Need help with problem:
I discovered lack of continuity from temp gauge on my '68 cluster to the temp sending unit, and my new OEM wiring is good. The purple (temp gauge) wire from the dash does not make contact with the engine compartment side of the bulkhead connector. It is about 3/4 of an inch inside the dash side of the bulkhead, so it does not make any contact when the bulkhead is snapped back in place. Is there a way to grab the wire from the interior side and pull it out into the firewall side of the bulkhead so I can clip everything back together at the bulkhead and have a working temp gauge?

thanks for any help.

I think it would be possible with a pic tool by going in from the engine compartment side.

if its that far back inside the bulkhead all thats needed is a tug it should come right out. once its out clean the terminal and bend the small tab outward on the back of it
and stick it back in. you should feel hear a slight click once thats done give it a tug it should be locked in place. if it pulls out again bend the tab out a little more and try again.

I tried and tried; couldn't get to it. So there was a small factory hole in the firewall - I decided to bypass the bulkhead altogether and ran a purple wire from the temp sensor all the way to the back of the gauge cluster uninterrupted. It's not a show car, and it's one less thing to worry about, assuming my temp sensor is the original style made for the original non ralleye 68 temp gauge.
