Eating vegetables, saying prayers and saving money finally paid off!

Howdy from a hill in Arkansas. Your car really POPS with that yellow. Tune her up, check the appropriate safety devices including the age of the tires (over 10 years old Bad) and hit the road. You’ll be at 20 mpg and bypassing all those gas stations while your buddies or new friends are draining their wallets.

Good looking car! Nothing like driving a B body Mopar with the top down! Welcome to the site!

buy a year-specific Plymouth "Factory Service Manual"
have 90% of your questions answered

& it will be well worth the small investment

Cool 69 Satellite vert. project
you can do a few changes to that like 318, easily 300+ hp
easily get another almost 50hp+ (or more) in power gain,
*if the bottom end is still good

remember what goes in must come out,
it's just a big air pump

4bbl alum. Intake, like a Edelbrock Performer RPM

Good 600cfm, pref. a Holley Carb & vacuum secondary, electric choke if necc.
it's all you need
or the new 'Street Demon' they work great right out of the box too
make sure the fuel pump is good & have a good filter before & after the pump

A nice decent camshaft something like .484"/284*,
matched new lifters, valve springs, retainers & lock, decent pushrods
no major mods to do it, not too radical, but nice performance & sound
seat of the pants, will be night & day

Decent headers flow way better than stock Iron manifold
& a 2-1/4" - 2-1/2" dual exhaust w/h or x pipe, tailpipes out the back
don't skimp on mufflers
give it a nice deep tone

also even a hotter coil, low ohm resistance plug wires

** option
& Pertronix (inexpensive & works well, use your org. distr.)
or a full Chrysler electronic conversion kit w/distributor & harness

still get decent mileage
very cruise-able still & much better performance/sound
not break the bank, still have some fun & demand some serious respect

welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

Me and headers have a love-hate relationship. I love to hate them. They always seem to leak or bang against stuff and I get the increased breathing helps. Any info on 318's stock exhausts that flow the best? The rest all sounds great tho I'm considering the FBO ignition system. it seems super clean, super easy and not crazy expensive. anyone have thoughts?

Well I don't know how far south or east you are, but I'm in San Antonio. Tho maybe we are kidred spirits, I'm rather cranky too. Now off to tell the kids to get off my lawn.

legend has it
Magnum 5.2ltr (318) or 5.9ltr (360) iron factory exhausts manifolds (same)
Ram or Dakota 2wd or 4wd
(none the earlier LA series, flow as well, not even the 68-70 340 stuff)
like 1997-99 IIRC (?) are the best flowing of the SBM's
but they are made for a truck chassis only, none for cars
may still work just fine
not sure if the 4x4 or 2wd are the same, either
may want to look into that
I was under the impression the 4x4 trucks had the best Iron manifolds (?)

won't work as well as Headers, longer tubes (even shorty headers)
far less reversion or lil' to no back pressure, more torque across the board
torque is what moves you easily/quickly, especially in a heavy car

they do make some good shorty headers for sbm's too
no starter issues, nor fit problems
if not for cars, they make em' for Rams & Dakotas

just need to go to a muffler shop for exhaust headpipe

maybe Schumacher Creative Services, may still have a good alternative too

FBO 4secondsflat.com ignition is a great system, full 12volts too
no ballast needed, not really cheap, not really overly pricey either,
but it's good
(Firecore distributors are great, plug & play, with CEI ir stand alone
you get the CEI type/relucter magnetic pickup, Summit Billet dist. like $30-$40 less,
$193 (?) it's the same thing, ships free
)
get/you'll still need a quality CEI distributor to use one
you can get it from them too, already set up

I have one FBO box & coil, for my current 68 RM23 RR BB 383/6bbl in my avatar

good luck

you should probably start a build thread
in the appropriate forum or general discussion forum
this is just the welcome wagon, not intended as a tech or Q&A section
