EFI vs. Carb fuel system, is EFI really 'that much' more expensive?

The big advantage here is for cars that make over 650 HP with EFI. We haven't discussed that but this is when carbs get really expensive and tuning is critical.

Holley sells the Super Sniper 4150 (1,250 HP capable - $1,500) & Stealth 4500 (1,500 HP capable - $1,700). Turbo applications, E85 street applications, blower applications, nitrous applications; it doesn't really matter. Paired with their Hyperspark ignition, the Holley EFI system manages (safe) timing and fuel tables.

We need a daily driver thread. 1500 hp? Motivation for efi for me is drivability, reliablility, keeping fuel cool, adjustments for high ambient temps and elevation.

$3300 so far between the tank and the efi. Project in progress.

I see they offer the stealth 4500 now which looks awesome, but it seems you either have to make less than 650hp or at least 800 N.A. to use one of their systems. Also the notes say not to use race gas? Why has fitech been able to make a unit that supports 250-1200hp N.A. but Holley cannot

Local tuner says he gets about 50 hours run time on a pair of O2 sensors with race fuel and about 500 hours with unleaded pump swill.

No, you can run N/A with all the kits. The Super Sniper series basically support Forced Induction with a 2.5-BAR map sensor (run up to 21.5# boost) and have a few other features. The 4150/4500 versions have (8) 100 lb/hr injectors.

The standard Sniper has a 2-BAR map sensor. Yes, theoretically they can support up to around 14# boost, until the engine maxes out the fuel system.

The Super Sniper 650 can support 650-HP N/A & 650-HP F/I (800 CFM throttle body) (400 lb/hr)
The Super Sniper 4150 can support 700-HP N/A & 1,250-HP F/I (800 CFM throttle body) (800 lb/hr)
The Stealth 4500 can support 1,500-HP N/A & 1,250-HP F/I (1,440 CFM throttle body) (800 lb/hr)

Leaded fuels kill 02 sensors, better off with E85.

Well, the more informed you are the better. Stealth 4500 uses 2.125-inch throttle plates and the Sniper series uses 1.6875-inch throttle plates. For a street car, where low-speed throttle response is important, you can understand why they placed the rating the way they have.

Lets put it this way, 440 six-pack, 390-HP, 1,350 CFM worth of air-flow at WOT. Drove around perfectly on the inboard.

I would give Holley a call if you're seriously considering any of the above kits.

Thanks for the explanation, I currently have a fitech 1200 which is a nice unit but I like the Holley software much better so I’m considering making a switch.

I paid Close to $2500 for 2 SV1 carbs and about the same for the racepak.I had to do it in steps due to the expense.But weather and DA have much to due with the tune then throw different boost levels into the mix..I also found the outer limits of my 4 inch exhaust system .
Wish I had a self adjusting EFI system!
