Need to know how I can wire up the electric choke for a holly 600 on a 1972 charger that was originally a 318 small block. The carb is new but im unsure how to hook up the electric choke. Has the original wiring harness minus a few mods for a big block setup. Ie the coil wire in front.

Ive heard a few different theories on this one. One is to use the wiper circuit. That didnt work for me cuz my car is a 76 and the wiper switch has its own circuit breaker. Its not connected to the fuse box at all and theres no good place to tap in. Your 72 might be different, its worth a look-see, anyway. Ive also heard that the "Instr" circuit off the fuse box is a viable source for good, switched, constant 12V power. I havent tried it yet (dont much need a choke in July), so I cant personally confirm it. I can tell you that the factory choke wire and the cruise control wiring will NOT work.

It's been about 22 years since I did this, but if I remember correctly, on my 72 fuse box there is a flat terminal marked ACC that is only hot when the key is turned. I ran the wire from my choke to this terminal with a female spade connector, set the choke cold once, and it ran like a champ for years.

I think you can go right to the positive side of the coil, powered when on and dead when off.

I was thinking that the positive coil wire would be a possibility also, not to mention its conveniently located right below the choke. If anyone could confirm this would work id appreciate it or any other ideas.

Thats where mine was connected when I bought the car....not saying it right but it works every time!
