Electric speedo to A727 TorqueFlite.

^^^^^where do I buy that part and what is it called?

To me it looks like you need the correct pinion for the speedometer drive already inserted in the transmission. Then the new unit screws onto where the cable would normally go - and from there the cables carry the signal to the speedometer on the dash. Conversion or compatibility of that signal is the next task to figure out. Have you any factory manuals or information about the Audi speedo output signal?
Pinion? is that what the part that goes into the tail housing is called? I don't jave one that has the 7/8" output to connect to. I have downloaded manuals and a whole Audi world forum to ask questions. Plus I have a buddy nearby who was an Audi tech for 26 years.

Let’s make this easy, after your trans is put back together, where the factory speedo cable screwed into is where the new electric speedo screws in.

Pinion is the drive gear inside the speedometer drive - the but with teeth - coloured plastic gear wheel.

The part I showed was an example - may need to check the size and model of your trans for compatibility first.

Here's what they said...

Yes, if you can configure a mechanical gear output with a 7/8” male thread, this will allow you to add the SEN-01-5 without any trouble.

That device has a fixed output frequency of 16,000 Pulses Per Mile.

When wired up to the SGI-5E, this will allow you to multiply this number, up to 128,000 Pulses Per Mile, or pretty much anything in between that (or even divided down below 16,000 if needed).

This will produce either a sine wave or a square wave, selectable in the SGI-5E.

To the left at the top is my reverse light switch, lower on the right is the electronic speed sender

I was just looking at the speedo gear drives. How do I figure out which color/size gear wheel I need?

Which is why I said the speedometer pinion drive needs to be the correct one - to give the best chance of calibrating the electric speedometer. :)

Rear gear size, 3:23’s, 4:10’s, etc with a 28 inch tall tire.....there’s a chart for it, give me a minute.

There's a start

there are calculators on the web also.

I tried to do that late last year....but funds were needed elsewhere.

So the adapter I get will have like 32-38 on it and that needs to be at 6 o clock? I think my tires are 26" and the gears are 3.55. So 36 teeth and red color...

I think I understand it all now. need some parts...

The adapters take different size ranges - just rotate to the 32-38 mark as shown.

And make sure it's all clean as you fit it - and be sure that the O ring is seated correctly and not squashed. leaking tranny fluid up your speedo cable will get messy.
