Not sure what happened - I removed the column to paint - put it back in and got a funky issue. Turn key and get a "click" - but not much else. Battery is strong and engine tuns over great when arced across at relay - where should I look first ? Red and yellow (ignition) wires have both been fried in the past as they were connected with crimp connectors (bypassed harness under dash), not sure if this would be related, but obviously was an issue at some point in vehicles life.

I would check those wires first. Then I would check to see if something didn't get messed up when you re-installed the column. Sounds like something isn't making a complete connection. If this just started when you put the column back in then I would say that is the problem.
BUT:
I had an issue with my starter relay, sometimes it would start and the next it wouldn't. Always thought it was the ignition switch. Bought a new ignition switch but nothing then I changed out the relay and everything works great now.

Hopes this helps.

Off the cuff, before my coffee and I don't have my FSM handy. Check the voltage at the solenoid wire (Yellow?) on the relay when the key is in the start position.

Thanks guys, I'll fart around with it this weekend. I do notice that my ignition switch is getting real sloppy - how tough to rebuild and/or replace as I'll want to do that regardless. Any links to posts regarding the process ? Thanks again, enjoy your coffee ..........

I just read on another forum that the burnt ignition wires through the harness are fairly common on 3rd gen B's (I've seen one other) and that it is recommended to replace ignition switch. Again if anyone has tips, I'd appreciate.

Update : re-connected wires - in P it no click, nothing. In N I can find a "sweet spot" that will allow ignition to work. Where do I look for my issue (floor shift car) ?

Mopar neutral safety switches are installed in the trans and activated by a detent lever inside the trans. Check your shifter linkage adjustment first. Then check the center pin on your neutral switch in both park and neutral. (The outer pins are for back up lights).
