Well I have been moving my '66 Belvedere around trying to work on it and noticed something unusual to me. It was dusk so I had the lights on while moving the car and I heard a noise from behind the dash like a small "tunk" noise and all the lights dimmed just a little bit. Then about 15-20 seconds later a slight "tink" sound and the lights returned to normal brightness. These noises will continue to go on even without the lights on. It doesn't just do it once, it'll keep going on.
Does anyone have a suggestion toward this? Thanks again for any help.

Sounds like the voltage regulator for the cluster-my Bee did the same thing. Guess cars really are like women- they all got their own little quirks.

It might be the voltage limiter! I'd unhook the battery cables, the original parts were prone to shorting out and burning the car down!!!!!!

"Big Jim", Thats the regulator that plugs directly into the circuit board for the cluster isn't it?

Got to be quick to get an answer back here (but glad to see it!)

All the lights dimmed? Even the head lights? I thought the voltage limiter only did the dash lights and gauges.
If the headlights dimmed as well, I would think voltage reg, but then if it is the solid state it would not make any noise.
