Engine Boss Location on a 383

Hello,
Can somebody post a CLEAR photo for me of the engine boss on a 383. I know it's located close to the distributor but I've forgotten where. Help an old-timer out, please.
Thanks!
UPDATE:

D 383......April & 383 cu. in.
2 12......what's this?

D is the year '68 not sure on 2 12 stamp. Feb 12 is a guess.

D= 1968
2-12 = Engine was built February 12 1st shift ( If there was a 2 after 2-12 it would be 2nd shift )
This is a standard 383 but that is good

Is this engine the original to your car as in numbers matching ?
You can verify that by comparing block stamp on the oil pan rail to your VIN # and fender tag #

It's a 68 (verified by the D on the pad) so there may be a VIN stamp don the back of the block near the oil sending unit. This is the best place to start to see if it is the original assembly.

If it is the original block assembly would it just have flat top pistons or ? I have a fairly good borescope to check the pistons from the s-plug hole.

It is not. According to the stamping on the block it is 1968.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your help as well as the help of all others here!

Thanks......I used to have a pocket sized decoder book......it was red in color, and I've forgotten where I put it.....wish that I could find another one

Good Deal! I would have guessed as much. It also has a thin balancer.......much like you'd find on an old 283 or 327 Chevy engine......is that odd?
It should have 906 heads with flat top pistons and a forged crankshaft. All good things.[/QUOTE

Oh, and BTW, it does have 906 heads.....I replaced the gaskets and checked that. So it's a 330 horse engine, huh?

UPDATE #2.....guys, I should "background" myself. I was dyed-in-the-wool Chevrolet for 35+ years. Big & small blocks, built them, raced them, and GRENADED 'em! Then 15 years ago I finally "saw the LIGHT" and bought a MOPAR. The first was a professionally restored, #s matching '69 RR which I owned for almost 13 years AND I regret selling but it's gone now....my '65 Dodge is a restored very nice example [I think], but not #s matching so I can fu*k with it, which is what I enjoy doing......more questions will follow....for instance,......about the "one year only" cable shifted console 727......a 3500[?] stall converter....the installation of a 4.10 Richmond geared center section.....the dual quad 500 Edelbrock carbs or or Holley list 4779 750 DP?].....I guess I'll be foolin' with 'em until the Good Lord takes me home......'Nuff said.....

No because there was no HP stamp in the bottom right corner of the block pad. It probably started out as a 2bbl standard with 290 horsepower with 9.2 compression but the crank is the same as the HP. Basically the only difference in a standard 383 block and an HP block is the HP block has the stamp, same block. You can add a windage tray, 10:1 pistons, hotter cam, 4 bbl intake, HP exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust and you have an HP motor.

If it was a 290hp, it should have dished pistons
Edit* the pistons may have been replaced
