Unfortunately, that’s not unusual for their castings. The Edelbrock and Trick Flows are amazing castings by comparison.
Can't really complain. No idea how old they are. They were used when I bought them 8 years ago. I've put 525+ passes on them.

The TF heads are super nice pieces.
Unfortunately, on something like Doug’s 572 build....... I think their 270 compared to an Indy cnc345 type head is going to leave a fair amount of power on the table.
Be nice if TF brought out a more race oriented head for that type of application.

Agreed. I think a TF race head would sell well. My main point was that both Edelbrock and Trick Flow can make high quality aluminum castings. Why can’t Indy?

Seems like Indy stuff makes good HP but I keep hearing about not so good quality control AND lousy customer service on top of that....

It will be interesting to see on this set of heads I’m currently running how they hold up. Car is making basically the same power with less material removed. Hopefully I see no issues in the near future.
Its on the welding trail. On to guy #2. My machine guy got the thin spot built up but still 2 small pin holes. Going to a guy that works doing Top Fuel heads. Should hopefully be done by Tuesday/Wednesday.

I knew that head wasn't dead.
For what it's worth. What I've done in the past with those is flush the heads real good with a good block/head flush and followed up with a ceramic sealer after the repair. I have a block off plate that I bolt on the head and circulate with as well as pressure test. I even circulate the solution through a crock pot to get it good and hot. Irontite makes a good flush and ceramic sealer. Just what I've done in the past. Good luck.
Picked up the head from the welder tonight. Not the first Indy head he has repaired. Drove it back over to Dave's for skim cut and touch the seats in case they moved around at all. Just waiting on gaskets.
