Engine decisions and interior decisions

Well, change of direction. Need a little advice. Would any harm happen if I were to just bolt on a pair of Trick Flow heads, a matching cam, lifters, and push rods? I'm not going to be able to build the engine I want right now, so I'm wonder if just doing a top end would be ok. Will the bottom end be fine? It's a 1978 motorhome block and right now I have 452 heads. I've already got an Edelbrock RPM air gap intake, hedman shorty headers, MSD distributor/wires/coil, 750 double pumper, MP water pump housing and mezziere electric water pump.

id just freshen up what you have, use a nice Comp or Lunati Voodoo 268 cam, and run it until the big money comes.

Man I love this ride, SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just throwing this out there, I've got a 456" in my Charger with reworked 452 heads and only have $4,500 in the whole thing minus the 400 and 440 rotating assembly I had sitting around. So far it's been a solid motor and for being built fairly mild it runs really strong.

I love that orange color... just love it,,, i have the 64 fury and I was going to paint it black,,,, since the car is black, and the interior is red with white headliner I was going to keep it like that because most people say its the most desirable color ,,, but after that orange,,,, im thinking of changing the entire color scheme.... Its frickin hot man...

Nasty looking car. Hope you get the finishing touches you want. I was surprised a hemi crate engine would cost that much. I didn't think $20k more like $10k. At any rate she's going to be a bad assed babe when done. Love those tires...!

Thanks for the advice everybody. I guess I'll just run it the way it is and enjoy it for now, until the wife gives me the go ahead to build the motor I really want for it. I still have to do the interior to finish the look anyhow, BUT I just want to go fast!!! LOL. The color is called Omaha orange. I wanted a REALLY loud color to say "HEY, Look at me!!!"

Slick looking ride. What part of the county are you in? Your car looks like one that was at a shop here in Ramona.

That was my car. Matt built the whole tube chassis, roll cage, and all the rest of the fab work.

Cool. I would see it periodically when cruising by. I like 64's best of either plymouth or dodge but am more than happy with my 65. Do you belong to the sd mopar club? Just joined back up after being away for 10 yrs. Where do you live?

I'm out in El Cajon. I actually ran into most of the members of the club yesterday at the MCRD car show on the bay. They seem like good people.

If you go to their show next month at the southern Mira Costa campus, I'll be there with my 29 Chrysler (unless its sells then it will be my coronet instead) and maybe we can hook up. The show is off I-5 in Encinitas/Leucadia area east of the freeway.

hopefully I'm not working that day so I can attend. I'm in the process of trying to sell my 1978 Z28 camaro.

Why not go with a turbo installation? Very streetabel and you have the power when you need it. You don´t have to run on 14 psi of boost. I have a mostly stock 400bb in my 64. Forged pistons, rods and crank thats it, i run 8psi and can run 14 if i want but then i´m on the edge, i think.. Cheap used diesel turbo chargers and a set of headders it doesn´t have to cost more than 3K and then you have almost double the power.
