Engine mounts are finally changed but the old ones look just fine

No but that's a pretty good idea.
So far every bolt on the car has been tight so chances are low, though.

The reason I ask is I just can’t understand how a motor can move that far forward unless you hit something hard which I know you didn’t.

Well that sucks since i bought them because they state in the description:
"You absolutely WILL NOT break these mounts ever! In fact, they are covered by a LIFETIME WARRANTY for as long as you own the car!"

My car is 100% stock so it should make 375 sae gross hp and since it's got 90k miles on it it's probably less. (But the engine is healthy / no slouch)

I've never used the ones you link to, I went straight for the kill w/ a solid on the driver side and haven't looked back.

Unless mine break soon ruining another radiator i won't.
Man those are even cheaper but i want to keep the car stock.
Does the car vibrate a lot with these? To the point that it's unpleasant for a daily driver?

Yes it will vibrate the chassis more; how much depends on the temperament of the engine. I found that solids on both sides were just too harsh for me (racy motor but lots of street driving) so I put the factory-style biscuit back on the passenger side. That tames the extra vibration for the most part but keeps it from lifting under power...no complaints.

At this point i'm not sure if the engine movement is out of spec. Especially since the old fan was wobbling at idle too. (More so when revving it up)
Maybe i really had 3 bad fan clutches. (The one the car came with, factory reproduction & actual nos clutch)
I will find out soon.

My dad designed a custom adapter so we can use the fan clutch fan without a fan clutch. (Got this built by a guy he knows that works at a machine shop)
Maybe it turns out the reproduction fan is wobbling because its not strong enough? Reproduction 1968-1973 B-Body 18 1/2 7 blade engine cooli...
I also bought an original solid fan with spacer so we can compare if necessary.

We did that before and after changing the mounts.
Before and after i wasn't sure if it was okay or to much. But i feel like it's moving siginificantly less now with the new mounts which would be nice.
But its not in there solid not moving AT ALL.

Oh bah humbug! I can do (and have done, many times) the mounts on my '68 (w/ power steering and headers) in less than an hour, with nothing more than a floor jack and regular hand tools. I keep the car on the tires and the engine only needs to be moved a small amount to take pressure off the through-bolts.

Like I maintain not everyone has worked on machinery, trucks and other vehicles sine they were old enough to notice. I was hauling grain from the combine to the granary when I was 13 years old. Started pulling implements in the field when I was 11. Had a city cousin who didn’t no anything about farming, but was self assured about doing things. After a few miscues he learned.
I think the key word in your post could be many times of doing it.
Example. I try to get by with the computer/internet usage and I screw up a lot and I am at the bottom of the knowledge pool.
I am having a real problem trying to figure out how to work and manage my private messages. I think my inbox is close to being full, and with the new format I have a real problem dealing with it.
Main point have tolerance and help people if possible.

They don't vibrate at all. I do run standard rubber trans mounts however. From all the reading on the subject, you aren't suppose to run all 3 solid mounts together.

That's good info to add...I've always used a rubber transmission mount too. They say that using a poly mount with solid engine mounts can crack the aluminum case. I don't know how much of that is truth vs. internet myth but I don't wanna find out the hard way!

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago where the member had a problem with the fan hitting his radiator and gouging it pretty bad. Everything was in good condition, mounts ect. I believe there was proof, maybe a video, of how far the engine will move forward during normal driving conditions. You'd be surprised how much it will. His problem was the fan was too close.

This is why 1" from the fan to the radiator is suggested. Using a fan shroud the distance can be a little more if you have 2/3 fan inside the shroud.

I don't know how much distance Michael has on his car but the wobbling fan blade did the most damage. Reading this I had the thought that maybe the clutch flange wasn't seated on the pump flange. The dowl on the pump that centers the pully and fan/fan clutch can be hanging up inside the clutch if the tolerance isn't just right. Something to check.

How true the fan runs the next time it is installed can be accomplished by measuring the distance while rotating the assembly. Make sure bolts are the correct length and not too long. I've never seen a bent water pump shaft but anything is possible. A bad bearing could cause a wobble in the pump shaft.

I've been running solid engine mounts with poly transmission mount for the last 3 years without any problems.

LOL. too bad I dont have a video of me changing driver side mount in local auto parts store parking lot.... with a floor jack, a few 2x4s and hand tools.... in about an hour. Same guy changed plugs and thought it was a nightmare.
