Finally got around to putting the carb and headers on the engine. It still is sitting in the crate but couldn't resist seeing what it will actually look like. I've had the engine since 11' and finally got the last big piece (carb) last month.
I need to invest into a new camera one of these days. sorry about the quality my phone is broke, it never focuses...

Love the 440 stickers on the 496. I've been thinking about putting 383 stickers on my 451 (when i finally get around to building it).

Thanks yeah when people come over and see it I usually tell them it's just mild 440.

I like it, I like it! Back in the early seventies when we used to street race out of "Duke's Drive in", All the Chevy guys used to tell us that their Rat motor was only a 325 or 350 horse motor and never open their hood.We had our own Chevy expert, and he told us how to look at the size of the crank dampener and the external oil cooler lines next to the oil filter to really figure out what horse engine it really was. Of course you hadto lay on the ground and look up under the car, but they usually got pissed because we knew they were lying.

Yup, at this point it's just a toy and I'll just be racing on test and tune nights so, if someone really wants to know I'll probably tell them what it is but of course if I start getting serious about competition then of course I'm not going to say a word. Seeing as everyone's usually a ford or chebby guy I could probably get away with saying it is a 383.
