Engine will not idle down

Mine leaked when I just used the pan one time, sucked in some oil from the lifter valley and ran lean with high idle in two cylinders particularly #7. I started using the felpro paper gaskets and sealant around all the ports after that. Plenty of people don't use the gaskets but when I redid mine I ended up using all 4 and the bathtub with beads of sealant around every port.

Generally, Mill the head’s intake surface 0.060”, and use the 0.030” paper on each side of the pan. Your favorite sealant to glue the paper gaskets to the pan. No sealant on the intake or head to gasket surfaces.

Use all three on each side and if you can’t get it on what works for me is I lift passenger one side up and put a few bolts then lower it even on both and start the driver side once you get a few it gets easier

The first time I didn’t use paper and it worked fine for a few months then I had a lot of idle and oil problems

I borrowed a set of hemi carbs from my dad and it cured the problem.
Something definitely wrong with the edelbrocks.
Just baffled...
