I go out for a little shakedown cruise this afternoon after cleaning all the gunk out of and rebuilding the 750 Edelbrock carb on my 440. So I swing into the only station that sells non-ethanol gas in my area (a Union 76) and surprise surprise, there are brand new shiny 10% ethanol stickers on all the pumps. I go inside and the manager tells me that the Phillips-Conoco refinery up in Ferndale finally had to switch to E10. I told him that I know that it's not his decision but he's the one that's going to pay the price for having the same gas as everybody else. I'm not going to pay him an extra 30+ cents a gallon for the same E10 that all the other stations sell. I feel like we should be able to make the decision to buy non-ethanol gas if that's what we want. Even if we have to pay a little extra for it. It pisses me off a little. How ironic is it that I just had to rebuild my carb.

Ethanol in gas sucks big, sweatty, gangreen infected, puss droolin balls.

No Shell stations out there? There about the only ones here without the crap.

Thanks for that tip;I'll have to check the few Shell stations around here. Everything else(BP/Sunoco/etc.)in this area has 15% ethanol content;hopefully the Sunoco 110 racin' fuel I add will neutralize it-LOL! I haven't had any problems yet-the operative word here.

Meep-,I wouldn't consume ethanol;now, good southern corn liquor is another matter...

What's the octane rating on that?

Here ya go, Bro. http://pure-gas.org/

Themechanic-THANKS! The only issue I see-with the stations somewhat near me-is that there's only 89 or 90 octane gas available. Premium was not listed when clicking on the "bubbles";doesn't mean that they didn't carry ethanol-free premium, just that it wasn't listed. Got to have the Premium(92 minimum) in the Plymouth. I've tried 89 in her once-never again! This was with factory timing settings. Even took a couple of degrees out and it still knocked.

Ethanol is Corrosive to everything. A big scam. We use corn to produce Ethanol. This is a really bad source for Ethanol, it is a low yield source. Switch grass or Sugar cane is the only source that makes sense. Another big government rip off with ADM.

So lets BOYCOTT 1 oil co. per month...last time someone did that the price dropped!
I drive 25 miles one way to buy "non ethanol" gas. (BTW it is shell) premium.
so 50 miles there and back.:cussing:...I take my pickup with 5 gal cans...sometimes I drive the
Belvedere there...it can be fun.

Also,:eusa_whistle: I always use an additive

Here in Stillwater it's easy to get pure gas from Conoco or Phillips usually runs a dime more than the ethanol gas.

More Gas....

At least you have a choice... Here in California, I think there are only 3 stations listed on that website that sell non-ethanol gas and they are all located way up North.

Also, if you are here in California, you might want to re-consider buying your gas from Arco. A friend that is an Amsoil dealer, told me of a survey that was done regarding the ethanol content in the gas here. Arco AVERAGED 23%!!!! Amazing, since it is only supposed to be 10%.. Chevron / Standard was the low at 7%.. I am trying to get the actual report and I will scan & post it if I can get the hard copy.

we have a ton of stations here in central Ca. here in the foothills Sonora area anyway, that don't have any of that crap so far at all...

Nope. The Shell refinery in Anacortes (that I can see by looking out my back door, by the way) has been mixing ethanol into it's gas for a long time.

There isn't one anywhere near me.... and hasn't been for years.

I agree with Rusty's assessment.

can you use air plane fuel in a car? we have a small airport in town I was thinking of using it as a mix

You can't pull up to a pump to fill up.....but you can walk up with a can and say you're using it in an off road vehicle.

I dont know what the mix rate would be, two gal per full tank sounds resonable but thats using the swag method

AV gas is not the solution but maybe mixed with our pump stuff it will help. The problem as far as I know is it's designed to burn at high altitude.
