In the states, the NHRA has an EV class (I was watching a national event and saw the semi final round). The problem with it is when they recharge batteries, they can overheat. I remember seeing a rule for the Jr dragster, that put requirements on charging the EV pack for a EV Jr Dragster. Over the years, the same comments came out when the Japanese vehicles first competed. Or a hybrid. I go up to our local track on Wednesday night for street trophy, and the EV's don't usually last too long. The way I look at it, is the tracks need another generation of people to continue the sport. There are dangers involved in any racing, and so long as the sanctioning body sets rules for safety, AND ENFORCES them, it can still be an exciting time. Don't get me wrong-I don't plan to ever own one, but they may make sense for some people-NOT ME!
