I just wanted to check in and see if there were any new developments/ideas on removing 41 year old manioflds that have never been off the car ('68 GTX). I have been spraying them with PB Blaster for a month now and before I put a ratchet/socket to them, I wanted to check in here first. I am dreading snapping one and having to pull a head or two if I can't get at the broken bolt with an EZ-out. TIA.

Kroil (available from Eastwood) is the best stuff going as far as penetrating oils go. Hose it down with that and go slow.

Localized heat right at the nut or long bolt with an oxy-acetylene torch set on a neutral flame is another way to loosen the grip. The trick is to get the nut to grow faster than the stud and that requires a lot of heat at the desired location. Propane might work but it will not flash heat the nut and you will probably spend more time heating the manifold, but certainly give it a try if that's all you have. Maybe the thermal cycle alone will help.

Thanks Alex. I have hard about Kroil but have not used it as of yet. This might be the time to get some. As for heating up the head of the bolt, I have done that before and will go that route just to give me a better chance of not breaking anything. Thanks again for the reply.

If it's factory exhaust manifolds they should be studs and nuts, not bolts..

You may have a problem with the three sleeve nuts as it will be difficult to get the penatrant to them. Just take your time and good luck.

Say three Our Fathers, two Hail Marys, and read Psalm 23, then close your eyes and go for it! Good Luck! ( oh, and use a gallon of that penetrant too)
