Exhaust - Good flow, not so damn loud!

On the 2" exhaust tips I plan to weld on the tubes from a 2" off set muffler ad insert that into a 2 1/2" pipe making the last 18" a muffler... it should be quieter... I like the idea of an h pipe just before the mufflers as a shaft loop...

Sorry I typo'd the part number they are 17748 offset/center

That makes more sense, unfortunately for me... Please do keep us updated as to your opinion on your results! We love pics and vid/audio links too!

Anyone ever run these? http://www.classicchambered.com/classic/products.html Or even made some based on them?

The "I can't believe it's not a muffler" muffler. Cranky, I would be interested to know if this style of muffler could be used in tailpipes to further quiten a system with turbo mufflers or should I just use some cherrybomb like glasspacks?!

All parts have arrived and I will be taking in to the shop soon. I ordered an h-pipe as well. I'll post pics, vids as soon as it's done.

Sounds like I saw this post too late. I had a similar issue with the 68 Hemi RR. It had downturns right off the mufflers. The Fix - Ran the pipes back to the rear of the car and added a set of 1973/74"Ish" resonators (Glass pak), which coincidently accepted the 1968 Chrome tips. A "Purist" would scoff at that, but since I wasn't in the mood to pay for a full OEM exhaust system(Since the first half was braand new), it works for now. Sounds awsome, and can still listen to that equally awsome AM Radio.

For many years I embraced the Flowmaster sound. That hollow reverb was music to me. Many guys bitched and complained that the FMs were too loud. This year I decided to UPsize my exhaust for increased flow. I did research on the flow rates of many popular mufflers. I was amazed to learn that most Flowmaster mufflers were MORE restrictive than other brands that were quieter.
I went with Dynomax Ultra Flos. The car idles softer. I can roll by freeway sound walls and still speak and hear with the windows down. At WOT the engine still sounds great but doesn't scare elephants or wildebeasts like it used to do....

Good info, thanks guys - both funny too!

I can't wait to hear Scotts results.

I'm thinking I'll go the Dynomax's and if it's still too loud, weld some small glasspacks in the tailpipes.
