I was cleaning up the routing of my spark plug wires and I noticed a blue wire that was not connected to anything tucked in behind the distributor cap. That same wire runs up the valve cover on the passenger side and has another unused plug right even with the carburetor. The wires follow back to the fire wall and to the main harness plug on the firewall going into the cabin compartment. I'm curious to what these are/were for?

Other Notes:
The alternator has the power output and 1-Field Wire used running back to an original style electro-mechanical voltage regulator.

Question do you have mechanical choke or electric? that might be the wire ...

Is the wire part of the original wire harness? Is the wire hot key on or key off?

Maybe it's for a carb solenoid (on 440+6 only). Is your car an A12 car?

Actually I believe that is the A/C Compressor Clutch wire. It feeds the signal from the dash to the clutch to tell it to engage. If you don't have A/C, the wire is "extra"...

exactly.my car was factory A/C and when I replaced my main engine harness it did not specify A/C or non A/C and it included the blue wire. If you dont have A/C just tuck it away, just like the extra horn wire for cars with 2 horns.
