I am looking to put disc brakes in my 1968 dodge charger, how do i tell if the car came with power brakes or manual brakes from the factory. There is no brake hardware on the car to tell what system i had on there originally

MP Brakes offeres two different kits, one for manual braked cars and the other for factory power braked cars. How do i know which kit to use. Also is mp brakes a good choice for brakes and hardware. Thanks

Hello. So your saying there is no brake lines going anywhere ( not along frame-rail ). Check for the hole going through the firewall for starters.

When i got the car it was a bare shell that went out for sandblasting, all the parts were stripped off it by the previous owner and are long gone. Do the brake lines make a difference, were the manual and power ones different? Thanks

I will have to do a little reading up in the 68 book on brakes.

From what I have found there is a difference in the firewall, the mounting pattern is different for brake booster and straight master cylinder. BCD offers only one kit and states that if its a power brake car you have to do some mild clearancing of the firewall, and will bolt right up to a manual brake car. And from the brake line kits they separate between power/manual and disc/drum so my best guess is there is a difference. You could always cross reference the VIN to see what options it had...Hope this helps

I think im gonna go wth the classic industries power booster n master cylinder. They only offer one type for b bodys in there catalog.

The firewall is the same it's the mounting plate that is different. The hole in the mounting plate is more in the middle on the powerbrake car where the hole on the non-powerbrake car is a little lower.

Thanks, i have a mounting plate for a power braked car sitting on a rusted out power booster on my shelf, so that should work perfect. Thank you for clarifying that.
