My first car - 1969 Torino - had the license plate filler.

I keep a rag back there for anything that might slop.

What I love about the filler behind the license plate is you can pull up to the pump either way - passenger or driver side towards thee pump - it makes no difference.

I've found the trick to gassing with today's short hoses is to put the pump on the pass side and get as close as possible, then pull to where your back bumper is even with the nozzle you need.

If I don't do that, some don't reach.

IIRC 55 Imperial is also under the tail light.

One of the coolest locations on a family car I had, was a '59 bonneville that was behind the letter "T" in the word pontiac, under the deck lid. Kind of camouflaged, as all the letters were in segments of sheet metal "tiles" .

The ignition key also looked just like a radio knob when in place.
The casual observer wouldn't notice the key was left in the ignition!

The short hoses they have now-a-days can be a real pain with our old cars.Gotta park just right to reach.

...or the front end sticks so far out from the island you're afraid someone might hit it going by.

My 1984 Chevy Caprice has it's filler behind the rear plate, curiously, this is also considered a B-Body but in GM speak, and it is powered by a ( Chevy) 383.

My parents had a couple of Pontiac Parisienne back when I was a kid. I remember filling the tank in the sub zero temps of winter when I was about 8 years old.... still thought it was cool to be pumping gas though lol

My Dad had a 1922 Model T Ford. The gas tank was under the front seat. You had to take the bottom cushion out to gas it up.
