Fastest Poly cars?

Lots of UK V8 guys converted to Gas, not the liquid form lol.
It was popular with the Rover brigade, all aluminium ex Buick engine from the 50’s.
It may be the way forwards for the future of UK Mopars?
 
My son and I did drag week 2019, and a couple weeks later I drove 890 miles each way to Memphis to compete in the IHRA World Finals, Sportsman class. Was running low 15's to high 14's. Its a daily driver. It has a 350 cu in stroked poly & mild cam. Don't hafta be fast if you're bracket racin'.
 
If going fast is your ‘thing’ then running a b-bod has to be a disadvantage from the get-go?
We don't think so. But you ought to see the looks when we show up with this 62 running mid 9's. Nobody knows what it is. I'll through in a time slip from my 64. Don't see any disadvantage.

That 1962 Plymouth is running stunning times indeed and I was thinking about a 413 max-wedge myself.
Although its seems that 1962 413's aren't max-wedge's, just wedge's with max wedge heads?

Its the thought of a Mopar engine being a 350 cube is a bit worrying lol...
I have been given/loaned, to 'try and test' a 402ci Poly for my 66-Coronet.

ps why does the timing ticket say ''FORD''...:poke:
Thought Milan was in Italy, I smell something fishy!:luvplace:

Just think, if you was running a Dart or Duster or an English 60's car, you be doing mid eights...:cursin:

Milan is in south eastern Michigan. Varsity Ford is a track sponsor. And you would be surprised how light a steel B body can be and look stock. Full race weight with driver and fuel is just under 3300lbs. Many A body small blocks that are heavier. The 62 has no lightening. It is 3775lbs race ready.

Was great reading through the posts. In '95 I bought a '63 Ply vert from CA. The 318 ran so strong for so many years that kept me from doing any major work on it. I put on a 4bbl, elect ignition, dual exhaust, shift kit, '65 Coronet axle/housing, 3:23 sure grip and it woke it up some. Come 2017 decided to go for complete rebuild. This included a mild cam, solid lifters, 5-way valve job, bore .60, 340 rods, TTI headers, eddy carb (come to find the motor had been rebuilt in early 80's with a .30 bore and hardened seats) later Chrysler TQ, 3:55 gears, etc as I can recollect here. Hmm, what did I get after all this and the several grand outlay? I couldn't tell ya if my ride is noticeably quicker than it was before all of this work. Only thing I'm playing with now is the timing, need to run it without vac advance, to not have any missing going on.

If I could turn the clock back I would have bought my friends 'MINT' 1971 GTX from Riverside LA...:blah:

Oh well, now I also have a rustfree 66 Coronet that was converted to a truck 318 LA and truck 727.
They are 'now in a truck' (where they should be) and a 400hp 402ci Poly will be going 'BACK' in there with a 1972 340 transmission.
I want to be (really really want) the fastest street-poly in Europe maybe the World!:rofl:

Still dreaming after 40 years of Mopars...
Thats why I need to know , WHO is the FASTEST???:drama:

My avatar shows the EX fastest street car in Europe from the 90's...
8.20 at 180 on pump gas and street dot tyres...

It's a single turbo blow thru carb without an intercooler. Yes he built it.

It has no water/meth, E85. That's the boost reference line. 76 mm turbo, 360. Filled stock block. Stock cast crank, Eddy heads, truck manifolds, .550 hyd roller, 750 blow thru Holley, 3.54 Dana, Trans brake push button 727. Best ET 9.55@142. There more power in it for sure. But we might have to sweep up the crank. Been together for years.

It just shows how much power you can make on a boosted eng. His is not a big eng and not even using headers and a cast crank. Its amazing it has stayed together so well. You gotta figure thats a 12 second car without the boost I would think at best. It makes me want to hurray up and get my sons car done this year as its a 451 thats getting supercharged. And it has good bottom end parts in it. Ron
 
So let me get this straight!
The 62 car is running a cast crank 360 with a 76mm turbo through cast truck manifolds at 9.55...:asskiss:
 
OMG, that is darn good!
We spent many a year trying to get the ‘Dart in the avatar’ to run a nine with an all iron 440...
Should have gone smallblock with a turbo lol...:rofl:

Ps it did go 8.2@180 with a Koffel stroker 400 iron motor though...:fool: on pump gas with street tyres.
