Fendertag 1966 Coronet 440...

Hello Guys,

It's been awhile since posting here. Not owning a B bodie for some time now.
But I just looked at this 66 Coronet. Can't really figure out the complete fender tag.
I think 41 stands for a 318 (Poly?), and the 5 for automatic (which one?).
Any help decoding the rest would be appreciated!

1966 Coronet with 318 Poly would have small block 727 Torqueflite. Very few options on that car. WH23 is 440 series 2-door hardtop. YY1 is Medium Tan Metallic. H4Y is Tan bench seat interior. '66 tag did not show build date?

G1 = code 351 Basic group that would have (pretty sure) a radio, day/night rear view, left hand outside remote mirror, and wheel covers
R1 = 421 AM 2 watt radio
S1 = 411 single A/C w/ heat/defrost
X1 = 521 Tinted glass - all edit: not. ...u1 = 691 Sold Car

"small block 727 Torqueflite", are there more than one type of 727's?

Big blocks have a different bolt pattern, so there's a BB 727 and SB 727.

This Coronet arrived in the Netherlands a couple of days ago. And is not mine yet. If all goes well the car goes on a lift tonight. That way we'll be able to see more of the car. And find out what engine and tranny are in it.

727 also came in Big Block versions. Different bolt patterns between the two engine families required matching bolt patterns on the trans case. Within these two families of transmissions, there are other differences, such as number of clutches, 3 or 4 gear planetaries, kicldown lever ratios, shift governors, servo and clutch springs. These changes are done to tailor transmission performance to the expected use of the engine it is bolted to.

Ah very informative Dave, thanks. I own a 69 Plymouth Fury, and 69 Chrysler 300, both with the 727. Allways thought there was only one type of this tranny. Good to know.
