Well finally after a hot hot summer with no garage and really no time off I am getting back on restification of the 63 wagon. Taking down to my buddies shop this weekend to jump on finishing off the bodywork and blocking to get ready for paint. Wish me luck...will take more pics also. Going with gloss black and gold interior.

Sweet, look forward to seeing it in color.

The saga continues...

Cars at my buddies house...wow did we find out the lower quarters were wavy as hell...did not realize satin black hides so many flaws. Had 1/4 patches welded in and I guess they warped them really bad. Now my buddy is on it (20 years bodywork exp) and cranking it out. Worked out all of my damage on drivers side lower quarter and now in a skim coat. Rear floor pans are about done also. I told him I want to go gloss black and he said "you must hate me!" lol. Rest of car is really nice but rear quarters were...well I'll just stop there.

1st pic is off right after he started sanded it down and was like "crap"..high spots, low spots as far as the eye can see. I'm glad I have a bodyman as a buddy to help me out.

I thought the car looked great before but cannot wait to see what she looks like after her resurection. Black with gold interior. 426 dual quad wedge with fenderwell headers, 15x8 steels with torque thrusts up front...old school.

Cool car...Can,t wait to see the finsihed product!!!

When I pulled her apart I found the strangest rust spot. The rear inner fender well on the drivers side has a six inch jagged hole in it (see mirror looking spot just left of guy on right) was hiding under inner panel. Have no idea what might have caused that area to rust out but wow.

Engine in garage with header stuck up to it. Engine is 10.5 to 1 engine rebuilt, rebuilt pushbutton trans w/2500 stall and 3.91 rear is getting redone also.

Have tracked down alot of hard to find items like really nice tail light assys (wagon only), nos rear window crank, rear rechromed bumper, nos backup light assys for bumper. Realized after nice paint the pitted stuff just wont fly.

Gotta love a hot rod longroof! I know what you mean about the trim;I look at mine and go "I had better start looking for some good stuff NOW!" Good luck on this project.

My wife hated it when I first drug it home...now she cant wait for me to put it back on the road. She's amazed at how many thumbs up it gets and how it draws a crowd. I have always been a wagon man since my 1st wagon which was a....cough cough 63 chevy biscayne wagon I bought off an old hot rodder I grew up near. That was one wicked wagon also...wish I still had it too. Heck just found it online! Heres a picture.

Can't give flak to the late 50's early 60's chevs....great machines. Besides mopar's, probably my favorite. That's gonna be one cool ride when all said and done Thunder. Good luck on the rest of your resto.

Your wagon is going to be one slick looking ride. keep up the good work

need to see pics when you get it in paint

Scored an NOS window crank!!

Just scored what I consider a gem for my car. Since I bought car I have been looking for a new manual tailgate/window crank assy. After almost 5 years found and bought an NOS one! I am stoked!!!! An NOS chevy parts seller listed it on ebay and after I emailed him asking about it offered it to me for what I consider next to nothing. Woohoo

I already have an nos lock set for it also that I had found awhile back...it's the little things that make ya happy:icon_cheers:
