First new tool box since '67...

Nice tool storage there. Like the deep drawers, and the long center drawers too. A lot of my larger tools (like the 36" precision straight edge) are hanging on the wall.
Had to check out the specs on it, over 600 pounds empty!

Had this one since '63

Then I bought this one used from the Cornwall Tools salesman in '66 and it's been in the back of my hemi-powered sedan for better than 52 years.

Then a couple of Craftsman roll-aways with an intermediate box and top boxes in '78.

Next came the blue Cornwell box and side cabinet on the right side of the picture in 2005. Then I got two more Snap-on roll-aways with MAC top boxes and a side cabinet (used) in 2007.

Another used Snap-on roll-away came a couple of years later and I ran out of floor space to put the boxes so the rest of the stuff went on shelves, It's too clumsy to put in tool boxes anyway.

This is ONLY my automotive tool storage. I have more tool boxes for all of my electrical equipment but most of those cases are in my '08 Magnum along with all of my wiring supplies.

You can never have enough tools.

Oh yeah, I forgot this one. Bought it new just before the Wuhan Flu pandemic.

Got a couple of el-cheapo boxes in the basement of my home for my carpentry and plumbing tools, too.

I've owned all of those boxes, I got a 54 inch Chinese Torin top for 200 on marketplace, and a 54 inch Husky bottom for 200 on Craigslist. I have acquired many many quality Snap-on, Mac and Matco tools. I also am considering a bigger box but I've never justified the Snap-on price for a box! But one thing I've learned BEFORE talking myself into a purchase, I get rid of the things in my box that REALLY don't need to be in there...lol

I never throw anything away if it's the least bit useful. People are always coming to me to borrow tools I've had for decades, like that K-D lifter removal tool from another post.

Hunting for the right tool is no problem. Everything's where it belongs.

My grandfather was a car manufacturer back just after the turn of the last century.. I STILL have three of his old wooden tool chests and a lot of the tools inside.

By the way, I have the original litho-plate that his original photo was generated from in the Standard Catalogue of American Automobiles in my book case.

I'm happy to see other garages that are over flowing like mine. Seeing all the tools amazes me when I go to a clients house and they don't own a screwdriver.

I think I have this same box at my shop-

Mine is in decidedly worse condition.
I bought it for $20 at a pawn shop after I bought my shop building, thinking if I bought ugly tools and boxes (since I had to buy seconds of everything), that it would deter theft.

Soooo...I have some conflicting info on the delivery day for this tool cabinet...

I was first told 10/22-10/25.

Then 10/18... so I had help on standby since I was told the delivering driver would need one extra man to help.

Nobody showed up on thec18th...then I got a 10/22 delivery date.

Now it's 10/25!

The box is on the dock 40 miles from my place. I could go pick it up but I am familiar with the trucking company that has it... they are a mess.

So I'll shoot for this Saturday...I will have to have one of my kids help unload it since I bought a new pickup and will be gone to go get that.

Fun.

Hey, sometimes the extra trouble makes the end result all the better :)

I have (2) Craftsman boxes from the 1990's back when they were not quite as flimsy as now. One of them is ball bearing latching drawers, I have that at work yet with a matching top. The one at home is overfull and has a top with the door on top that props open.
I keep anything not hand tool related in home made cabinets in my shop that hang over the bench on my west wall like kitchen cabinets almost. Power tools, books, spare parts, wire, whatever etc. all goes in there. The west bench is also covered in stuff. Under the bench is more "cupboards". More stuff in there, spare lawnmower blades, saw blades, extension cords, whatever.
East bench had peg board to hang up big stuff. East bench is covered in interior trim pieces from my Monaco lol.

I am actually really happy with my work spaces and storage. Minus I wish I had a car lift. The real trick is finding time/cash to work on stuff in my space! But I am happy it is this way and not the other way around. I grew up laying in the gravel driveway working on farm equipment and changing oil on top of packed snow in the driveway too. Besides, even if I am saving funds for the next thing I can always go sit in my shop and day dream...... I mean tell the wife I am organizing... I mean organize the shop.

I don;t need a new toolbox, but I see really high quality stuff pop up on FB market and Craigs List periodically. Someone selling their dad's Kennedy without knowing what it is, that sort of thing. Oh and the mortgage payment snap on guys trying to get their 30 grand back out of their toolbox LOL.

I waited over 40 years to be able to own a shop that was large enough to fit a lift.

Back in the 80's I rented a 3400 sq ft industrial building for my race car fab and parts business but all my $$$ was tied up in inventory and equipment..no lift dollars.

I bought this lift used from a shop whose owners were splitting up...best $1800 I ever spent but that was still pricey 35 years ago.

I don't even have a shop. Just a little ole 2-1/2 car garage. However. Dozens and dozens of cars have been restored, street cars modified and race cars built out of my garage. I do have a lift now. It just makes everything even tighter.

Can't fit a lift in my garage. The overhead doors are all in the way as my garage is wide, not deep. :-(

Reading over this thread, I'm equal parts envious....and part "how the hell do they FIND anything in there?"
