Msd 5 box with stock electronic distributor

*As Bob slaps his hands together, dusting them off..." no more of THAT ****."

When I first acquired the GTX... (RS23V0A******)...many years ago (30+).....the original owner installed an MSD 5C box, it was mounted underneath the battery tray. It supplied the 400 volts DC to the coil and had a 12v DC to the 5C box and MOPAR magnetic pickup distributor. I removed ALL the MSD stuff including all wiring, distributor, 5C control box, coil and ballast resistor and deposited all that stuff in the round file (trash), installed a Prestolite Dual point distributor, correct coil and ballast resistor as was supplied by MOPAR.....to be period correct in both appearance and functionality.......and NEVER REGRETTING THE CHANGE BACK TO ORIGINAL IGNITION ....it looks great and runs great........

I had no operational issues with the MSD 5C box..
I did fabricate a metal base/w-rubber shock absorbers mounted down on the frame rail, same place I mounted the Chrome box. For the ballast resistor I took an older resistor gutted the inside and put in a straight jumper wire, effectively bypassing it so there was no voltage drop to the coil. Also I fabricated a short wire for the tach coming out of the MSD 5C box. I did double check the timing, every thing ran fine but as posted previously with the Chrome box the engine started more quickly and @ higher RPMs things felt stronger. I know I may be old school but I have been running all OE mopar stuff without any issues...

Just my $0.02...

[1] MSD 5 was/is multi spark.
