Blew out a freeze plug on the right rear, car rotated to the left till I was sideways over the stripe with the brakes locked. When I brought it back straight I tagged the wall.:steering:While sideways with the brakes locked the tire curled and the asphalt ate the sidewall and rim.Perfect excuse for a new set of wheels...LOL

Car still went 10.80 @84 MPH sideways over the stripe:screwy:

That's not to bad for a bad weekend. You will get them next time. Ron

Mike, you may have convinced me to stay with my stock/aluminum pump. Although my stock style with Moroso electric drive made many, many thousand runs. Always had a spare motor & belt.

I respect everyones choice on how they do things. I prefer a stock aluminum housing with aluminum w/p and a 6 cyl pulley that is smaller in diameter than a big block.

That really sucks.
Didn't the Mopar Missile have setup with clutch that wouldn't drive the water pump during a run.

IDK,,,,,but that sounds pretty cool,,,,or would that be HOT.LOL

Some guys have lost freeze plugs on the dyno during a hard pull with lots of HP. I replaced my freeze plugs with a deeper cup type just to be safe after reading that.

The other obvious thing is we don't seem to have quality toggle switches available today. Back in the 70's/80's I had access to MIL spec switches. Not so today. Sure wish I had kept those from my old car. Oh well.

My thoughts too.

I certainly agree with that, especially if you're buying across the counter. Checking online there are a few manufacturers that still claim to have high quality switches for aircraft applications and such. Race Ready Products sells some military grade toggles (10 &15 amp) that are "built in the USA".
A friend installed some combo-toggle/breaker switches in his car. They aren't cheap but they do make a circuit much simpler. If his continue to hold up, I might use them in my next project.
