Floor jack and stands

I have a 30 year old Heim Werner 2.5T floor jack and Four 3T ratchet stands along with four 6T ratchet stands. I use the 3T stands mostly but when I need extra height, I use the 6T's. I don't understand the nervousness about the 3 ton stands. Someone mentioned "seen too many failures" Where and How? Must be miss-use since one three ton stand is rated at 6000# with a safety factor built in. My 05 Chrysler 300 C is the heaviest car I have at close to 5000# total.
I have never had a close call working under any of my vehicles since my early teens depending on a car jack alone while changing a tire. That lesson taught me to always use the proper lifting tools and rigging.

I bought the same Summit Racing Jack as @Don Frelier did. It’s aluminum, easy to maneuver, and has exceeded my expectations.
For the reasons @icetech and @toolmanmike did, I went with the same 6-ton jacks @Mopar Hunter bought. Got mine on Amazon.
I use the jack stands under the rear axle and front torque boxes when I need to pull the wheels off.
When I’m under the car, I use wood blocking/cribbing like @sc440.
Here’s pics of my old equipment next to my new ones.

+1 on the HF Daytona. Never a lick of trouble with it.

For stands I've had no problems with my JC Whitney 3 ton stands from 1990 (still stored in the original cardboard box - I'm OCD .) Or the Powerbuilt from the same era. I've had all my cars on them.

But for new models check out this review. His rapid fire talk bugs some people, but he's thorough:

I recently bought a Quickjack 7000TL lift. I have not set it up yet as still too cold. Reviews were ok for it. Has anyone ever used one? It’s rated at 7000LBS, and lifts 24 inches.
