Then I don't understand why. They are both 11". I guess I wait for Brewers to look at it on Monday.

The factory starter fits correct? The teeth on the flywheel clear the shaft that the starter gear slides yes?

If they dont mesh, the only other solution i can think of would be to use offset dowels to mount the bellhousing to the block. Probably wouldnt hurt to measure crank flange to bellhousing runout. If the bellhousing is off center to the right slightly it would push the starter too close to the flywheel

either you do not have the right starter or your bellhouse is wrong for the flywheel or visa-versa...................................MO

Starting to think its truck flywheel. It measures 14.25" OD.

I think I resolved the issue. Took it all apart, reinstalled it all. Snugged it up and it appears to line up now. Tight tolerances, but it will work.

The trans is a bitch.. I lost my plastic centering tool. I'm going to loosen the pressure plate bolts a little and turn the motor by hand..and try to man handle it in..Maybe after Easter dinner.

Chicken, you are a good guy!...
and BTW Sonny has his own tool also!
:icon_winkle:

Bless the boy that has his own tool! :D

I have never gotten the clutch alignment tool to work. Just put the transmission on dowels and have someone push the clutch pedal in should slide right in after it gets started threw the clutch disc.
