Folding Engine Hoist

Made mine about 1980. The Farm & Fleet long ram cost me more than all the steel. Broken down it stows against the garage wall mostly now. Never have painted it though.

Here is what you get when you try and pull 20 year old boxwood shrubs up with an old hoist. It did it but bent the **** out of the leg. No digging required. This thing needed new casters any way.

I pull fence post and concrete post footings with mine all the time on the 2T setting.

I have a H.F. 2 ton that's about 14-15 years old ! It's been used alot! At least 50 eng r/r. Just From me I let people use it alot it sat out in the rain at one guys house for a year about 7 years back I found out as I drove by his house and saw it. I luckly had my truck and took it home with me!
I've never had a problem out of this lift ! I also use it for pulling stumps and post !
It is a older model so I can't say the new stuff will be the same!

Here is what you get when you try...….
^^^ Lol, as they say "nothings forever"!
My hoist is mostly 3-1/2" X 2-1/2" X 3/16" wall with no extensions for the base. The boom extension is 2" X 3" X 1/8" wall. I did break the casting for the pump handle once pulling the neighbors bushes next to his driveway. Other than that just stretching of the two struts at the bolt holes.

Haven't needed one since I bought this American made beauty:thumbsup:.

My dad just bought one of the Harbor Freight hoists, it seams to work just fine. Personally I can't stand the store.. brand new needle scaler... junk, pulled one of their die grinders out of the drawer that's never been used... junk, won't even spin! I get that it's affordable tools but at what point does replacing junk get old? Sorry for the rant, their Hoist seams to work just fine.:D

Once again you guys have out done yourselves. Thank you for all of the great replies. Grady what kind, brand name is your lift? Beanhead, your idea is unique and I am thinking it may work for me. I have a friend who has one and I may just ask him to let me buy a piece of his. He probably will not let me; he will probably just say borrow it whenever you need it. I guess that's what makes friends, friends. God bless you gentlemen!
That's a great idea, my cousin and I have pitched in on a few things that we both needed over the years but borrowing works too. Maybe next time you guys need a tool you buy it and so on, share the wealth and you'll collectively build quite the collection of tools.

Better yet build a joint garage and the tools stay put. Set rules of use would have to be established and respected.

Things can go sideways quickly if you don't take care of my stuff you borrow! You only get one chance! I'm too old for nonsense. If I know you are irresponsible; the answer is no! 747Mopar that is a beautiful BEE; beautiful garage, and beautiful lift. What do you use to pull engines? Borrow dads junk HF? I saw the customers responses on those and several people commented that the holes in mating parts do not line up. I understand some people putting these things together, don't always read the directions. Some people tighten as they go and find out they have to take it apart to get it back together. You can't always go by their replies. I understand Tractor Supplies carries one. Someone commented that they are all made by the same company in Japan or China, and they just put a different brand or company name on them. Here we are debating which one is better; when they are probably all the same. Hahaha! That would be real funny if it were true?

I have to be honest - I have no idea. I bought it at my local auto parts store along with 2 engine stands. I would have to go to my shop to see what brand it is...

Instructions , isn't that a last resort option. Agree on borrowing. Borrowed a compression gauge once, carb was dripping a little, didn't notice it 'til after. Third cylinder pow, off to the store and bought an exact replacement .

I know what you are saying about those instructions (that's a guy thing), but from what I have read, if you tighten before it is all together, you will have to take it apart before you are done.
