Hayes Ten-Wheelers? Interesting that the center drive wheel doesn't seem to have a flange. Must be for tight radius curves.

So what is going on there and why was that thought to be a better design and/or name?

That B&O unit is a "Winnans camel", designed by then B&O chief engineer.

Not to be confused with "camelbacks" which appeared later.
