Just have some parts updates........

Finally found a mirror with good reusable glass for the X. It has the correct date range for the SPD. The date on the mirror is 9JC8 for September 1968.....

Anyone have any good ideas on how to soften the glue to remove it safely?

Here was a random find of flee bay recently......Now I just need to find one more:D
Got it for a great price.........Very nice to see the original details from these NOS parts. BTW all parts shown here are either spares or replacements......

This was another great find......A pair of NOS upper control arms. The ones on the X are the originals and have no pitting but one side is not as perfect I wanted it to be. Repairing it or grinding it changes that from the true originality. The Judge as MCACN did not make note of it but it is one of those things that irritates me. Eventually, I will install the NOS bushings and ball joints etc and update when they are done. Before they are installed on the car at some point in the future...

BTW the reproductions weigh less, cheap steel and are not stamped exactly the same. Many small differences....

Well I will say I have finally found ONE UNOBTANIUM part.......the one I got deducted for as well, lol.....

This is the first NOS washer jar I have seen and owned for a 68-70 B body......These are dated which also creates a whole another animal. So to find not only an NOS one but to find one with the correct date in range of the SPD, Is a phenomenal feat......However, I paid dearly for this dated piece of plastic but it is what it is and the X needed it......Can I get my point back, lol.....

Notice the manufacturer details in the pics.......They were not perfectly done and plus this was a OTC part versus the actual line part which shows QC was for squat.......

The date is 2538 which equates to September 9, 1968:thumbsup:

I would like to find on myself with a date code of 11th month of 69. Also, a date coded glass or someone that would itch a glass.

Good score on all those nice parts Justin! Especially the washer jar:thumbsup:. Looks like Christmas came early:).

Lee....thanks my friend!.....It did come early indeed.....In over 20 years messing around in NOS parts this is the first washer jar for a 68-70 B body I have acquired. Thousands of parts I have scoured through and had....I still cannot believe that I found one with the right date code....Never say never I guess.....

Best of luck Gary is all I can say.....as I said earlier never say never......It is a very tall order......Just the rarity of finding one is bad enough but when you throw in a date needed your pretty much hosed......

Original/NOS glass IMHO is a waste of time trying to acquire.......One could get extremely lucky and rob a survivor car with low miles with pristine glass.....With ECS offering the correct etchings, formats and date codes. That is the best way to go......No one can tell the difference and you do not get deducted for that....

Thanks Gary...possibly or a heat gun.......
Heat gun may get too hot unless you can turn down the temp. I would think a milder heat over s longer time Would be the more cautious way. Also, would not try to pick up on a corner or edge. I would think using a twisting motion back and forth. I tried on one picking a corner and it broke I needed to be more patient and I believe it would of worked using the wife’s hair dryer. Maybe, contact an automotive glass person they may have a better idea. Good luck

I wouldn't go crazy with a heat gun, thats a given but it would work a little quicker than a hair dryer.....Also I will try to soak with WD40 or paint thinner......

I learned long ago to never pick/pry on thin glass/mirror.....

Thanks for that link KK!

I tried thinner on the original mirror awhile back for the X and had no luck...Soaked it for a day........Only good thing it was an attempt on a non usable mirror...

Sounds like paint thinner is the better choice I am finding out........More for that than wd40....I think I will try wd40 first and then move to PT.......
