Judging by the fuzz surrounding the hole, it looks like your master cylinder is going through puberty.

Mark,.
Love the stuff you come up with. You are truly one of a kind....

They coat everything with vegetable oil, no kidding....Then vacuum seal the parts in a bag and that is why it looked like that out of the bag. Little solvent cleaning and some boeshild t9 did the trick!

Not a lot ventured this evening. Placed the kick panel area insulation in place.

I had a new repro twilight hardware kit. Contained the studs, nuts, and rubber washers. The pot metal nuts are close but slightly smaller and the originals had mastic and not a rubber washer. The housing nuts are not even close to the originals.

Another boring day just doing odds and ends...

The clips for the windshield trim are installed. Ordered a new set for the correct year and clearly they are for earlier b bodies pre 68. Straighten the tabs and place in respective holes and squeeze the center with needle nose pliers to lock them in place. I displayed one when the tabs are straightened and the photo after is how far they spread when squeezed. There are 6 in total.

Voltage regulator....I could spend a day describing the differences between an original and the repro. They are not the same on the back nor the front and the weight is dramatically different. The repro weighs next to nothing. I am searching for a NOS unit but the repro will have to do in the interim. I sent the original clip and the hold down bracket with bolt for plating. The repro comes with a screw and that is incorrect to use.

I was told about using vegetable oil but didn't know how it would hold up. I used RPM instead but now coulda woulda and shoulda used oil, IDK

J,

As usual, I appreciate the detail. Keep up the good work! You are correct, the repop VR are not even close to originals. Was your original done with red lettering?

There are many variations in the lettering from color and font size during the 1969 production year at LR. I do know that by the time the A12 were in production, it was yellow with a specific font size.

Nation, been checking in on your restoration from time to time.
I'm both glad and grateful someone in our hobby is as detail oriented as you are.
I now consider myself to be a complete hacker, or I just have the attention span of a gnat. I can get pretty fussy doing carb work, and component assembly, but your level is beyond what most would expect.
Bravo!

Thanks for the compliment.....My pops grilled us in the "Do it right the first time" philosophy. He also in turn made us to be humble in the process by telling us "let you and your things speak for itself and you DO NOT speak for yourself or things you have." His classic phrase I do not raise BS's or braggers......

My pops grew up on the families peanut farm in VA, went into the military, opened his owned business after Nam, sold it and retired at 50.....His two sons act and think just like he did and we thank him for all of that! We would not be where we are today without him.

The repops are HORRIBLE.....I forgot to attach the front picture but will tonight.....Truly, sad how far apart they really are....The new ones are no better than an over the counter part at your local parts source. It looks cheap, flashy....I am sounding like this bothers me, lol....

This was one of the few serviceable parts that was long gone...So I really do not know which color of font it originally had or if it even had a date......Mine is an 10/68 build and I have always only seen red script but that does not mean it is 100% correct...

I sent you an email by the way and I hope your able to correct this dilemma....In the engine bay this thing to me is like a big pimple on the forehead, lol

Did your car have a rear seat medallion ? Could you post a picture if it did.

It did have the medallion. Paul's chrome replated it and the backing plate was plated. I have to remember where it's at, lol....

Dual horns. The finish on theses is originally is gloss black and they were dipped. That is why they have they eyelit on the top so they can hang. They are two different horns. One is for "high" and the other is for "low" tone. These high and low markings are found on the outer rim, see pics. Both of these horns are Prestolites and both have the date of 38th week of 68.

The hardware is from Frank Badalson and are the correct finish, look, length and markings.

The harness connections were taped off during the dipping process. The small bolt is to adjust the sound of each horn and each has a "P" letter on the head. The bolt that holds the bracket to the horn is very distinct in features.

4spd starter relay was restored by Totally Auto. Correct PN and date code 42nd week of 68. All hardware was restored. However, the nut and lock washer are incorrect and the correct one is being plated and I will post pics later showing the differences. The hardware is the original and unique with a "N" on the head and the washer on the underside has locking tabs.

Original horn relay off the X was also restored by Totally Auto. Has the correct pn and date code 2898 289th day of 68, I presume. The bolt is the same as the ones for the starter relay.....
