The original distributor was long gone....The GTX came with a prestolite dual points distributor. This unit was restored and recurved by Bill Overcash. The tag with date code(38th week of 68) was supplied by Frank Badalson. The dual points cap are rare and have distinct features. This one is NOS and one key feature is "made in the USA" mark. NOS rotor in place.

Original carb bolts were zinc plated. Original carburetor(debatable) was restored by Bill Overcash. Date format is C9 for March 69. This was on the car when it was purchased. It is out of the appropriate date range and may not be the original carb. Some point and time I will run across one that fits the correct date range but have not had any luck yet. Until then this one will have to do...They are rare irregardless...

The starter was probably the hardest part to find and second was the alternator. Reason is people turned them in back in the day for cores, threw them away. and most got stored in the elements and beat and banged through the years.SO to find an alternator/starter with rebate part numbers, date codes etc and not pitted, banged up etc is near impossible these days.

Jim was able to find the correct cover and starter for my build with the correct date codes/PN's....

Here are some pre and post clips.

More engine pics....Original pulleys were cleaned up and sprayed with semi gloss. The crank pulley hardware was zinc plated and the fan pump hardware are plated originals...Bolted on motor mounts and unfortunately one bolted stripped the threads during torquing...Fortunately, I was able to back it off and got a replacement. Correct starter shield came from Brewers. Notice the orange paint on the throttle cable bracket stud...

I still have been unable to get a complete NOS spark plug wire set. Thanks to a member on DC.com I was able to acquire a little over half of them. The pics are comparing an NOS one to a new repro wires. They do have differences. Until them the repro's have to do...

The NOS one is the lower one with the reddish boot...
