Some of the guys in our area have 2 grilles, one for cruising and one for shows. I know how very brittle they are, one bird or rock and you could have some major repairs.
I agree with you Justin on buying a GTX. I've told people you could easily spend 5K to get all the missing/bad parts refinished or replaced.
Speedo
grille
side trim
trunk finish panel dash
wood grain pieces
tail light housings & lenses
ect.

GTX is not for the faint at heart for a restoration.....Easily is correct and it gets easily higher depending on where the parts go....

Justin

They should make a bubble to drive around in until the force field is perfected.
My bubble/force field is the "Agreed Value".....Trust me the insurance company does not want a total loss on this car...So I really do not worry about any adverse event etc..the car will be shown it will be driven(not much) and transported.....All my restorations, I show/drive and that is what they were originally built for...

Yep I found out the hard way and I'm not near as worried about perfection as you are. I think I spent 1800 to get my trunk panel restored, 700 for tail light housings, 200 for repop speedo lens,
500 for a better grille, that I still need to have restored, repop body side molding including wheel lip mouldings 750, steering wheel restored 600. GTX emblems, ect ect.
Like you I have good insurance.

Your pricing is in line in relation to the panel and housings.....The steering wheel seems high was that a woodgrain and where did you send that?

Yes it was the wood grain steering wheel (ralley?) It had a couple cracks and the horn button need some work also. I think it was Bill's special Ts in/near Chicago. He did my wing vent frames also.

So that total was for the wheel and horn button?

Yes, 600 total , I think he out sourced it, so was probably 500 then he jacked it another 100 for himself.

I looked at buying another one but all the nice ones I found were about that price range. Afterwards I found a Grant wheel that looked similar for 300, but I wanted the original look.

You will not beat the original wood grain wheel....Good choice

On ebay there was a NOS steering wheel for my car. When bidding went over $700 it was to rich for me. Final sale price $1225.

Nos does not always mean bolt on.....the one for my X was NOS but still needed restoration, no cracks thankfully....

If you cannot get a NOS at a good price then just get one restored, the end result is the same when done by the right guy.

Unbelievable attention to detail Justin...keep it up.
