Special thanks to Rage AKA themechanic for finding something to change on the X..

Roger thanks for pointing this error out and sparking a debate behind the scenes. It is a little things but little things make the bigger overall difference:thumbsup:

Rage? Are your hands still tired from all that upholstery work or was that a Freudian slip? :D

Great thread. I love to see the dedication to authenticity when restoring one of these. I don’t have that type of resolve lol. Keep up the great work.

Great to see you here! Thank you for the compliments...I also enjoy following your wonderful build. I look at your dedication and resolve the same as you are of mine in relation to our builds! They way you fitted the turbos, the plumbing all I can saw is WOW! Nicely done my friend! Also, everything else on your build too...

FWIW, here is my 68 X built in St Lou with what appears to be factory carpet and no grommet.

Out with the new and in with the old...lol....

Here is a later NOS set of front arm rest bases. The chrome has a different look between the NOS and reproduction. Other features not seen when installed are the castings marks and the obvious part number with Chrysler logo. The notable features are the chrome look, and the thickness. The reproduction is thicker.

My rears will be replaced as well...I have a NOS set on the way....

(Pics 4-8 show the comparisons the bottom one is the reproduction)

Have to give special props to Mark. He located an NOS window crank for the X. Remember I had 3 and only needed one and thanks to the cranium my cranks are now complete!

Thanks my friend!

The last two pics is after I cleaned it up....Cool background huh!

After a long time searching and waiting....I now have the correct carb for the X in my hands. This carb was found a few months ago and was sent to Scott at Harms carb for restoration. He did a beautiful job restoring the carb and his turn around time was great. I have used him in the past and he always met or exceeded my expectations. He is not the only carb gent I use but I chose him for this carb for personal specific reasons of mine....

I am awaiting a new ID tag to be made.....and I will tag the idle solenoid and bracket of the current carb.....

When I go to replace this I will take more detailed photos...

In another thread about glass installation the "roof rail" rubber channel strips were talked about. I have an NOS passenger side. The seller had a pair of (R) side and only would sell as such....So had to buy 2 to get one but as rare as they are it is the way it goes....Notice the part number and the other numbers I think correlate to the two halves where they are seamed together....

I have searched and searched for a left side but still no luck on an NOS one. However, I think I will have my hands on a very nice used one soon. Hence is why I whipped these out of storage. They reproductions versus the original is a "night and day" difference all around....

I have to say, one thing that really amazed me was how some of the original 50year old rubber on my car looked like brand new after a little tlc.. Funny story, I ran into a guy a few months ago that was a chemical engineer for Dupont, I think, or some big company that made a lot of the rubber and seals for these cars. I complimented him on his work and how great some of my seals/rubber still looked after so long, and my car had never been garaged or covered from the elements. He got very excited and went into great detail on how they came up with new/better formulas about that time and that they had estimated 100 years under reasonable conditions for some seals, way more than they thought the rest of the car would last. But I'm sure quite a few will still be around on their 100th birthdays.,
especially yours Justin!

I wondered why they put them together like that. The reproduction ones are done almost in the same location. I guess they had right and left ends and placed them to straight pieces. I wonder what type of vulcanize process was used.

My '62 seals look more porous than yours.

Each side is entirely different....The right hand portion half above the glass will not work on the left side....I don't have a NOS or original (L) side to show all four numbers but I bet they are all different to mate the correct halves. When I get one I will post it up...

As far as porus goes if yours is NOS it is either the way the manufactured them or the material used in 62 or got aged due to poor environment....6 years later and the process was either better or they used a different material.....

No idea on the process....maybe someone can chime in with what they may have done...
