Ford GT's...... I don't get it

Here in this side of the globe one cannot be picky, not that many options. My daily driver is a 85 Thunderbird.

I have built a couple :steering: (19 seconds)

Now that things got some nuts!!
A buddy of mine has the same in a f100 390, I've been bugging him to take it to the track after I gave it a proper tune :poke:

What Ford did to Ken Miles at Le Mans was unforgiveable.

The only saving grace was that a Kiwi pedalled the car that was eventually and unfairly declared the 'winner'.

Ford may not have thought abut scoring. I've exactly the reason, was it he didn't cross finish first in the 3 car crossing.

agreed 100%

I would love to own an original, But there on a different level than I am

I have a friend who has an authentic replica GT40 and I can’t fit in it. I’m 5’-11” and my head is above the roofline and the only way I cans get my legs under the dash is to turn them at an angle.

I cannot believe that Jeremy Clarkson bought one thinking he could drive it around.

I think he sold it soon after delivery....probably made a few bucks doing so.

Here ya go boys! Now you too can afford to own one!

(not mine)

The newer GT does nothing for me
Just like the new Corvettes, disgusting. In 05 when the Ford GT tribute came out, I went to a nearby dealer for a look. MSRP was about 185K and they were willing to discount it. I didn't even ask because it was a Ford.

Why is it that you find the new Corvette disgusting? Sure, it took 50 years after they promised to put the engine where it belongs, but what don't you like about it? Is it too slow?

Corvettes have always been on the cutting edge of new technology, some good, some bad. Nothing wrong with the engineering or speed capabilities. The outward appearance and design is what disgusts me about their latest offerings. I owned a number of them from 69-82, but the lemon in 82 was the one that broke me from suckling eggs. First year for the 700-4R, and crossfire injection both disasters. Mine didn't make it the 7 miles home from the dealership before having to be picked up with transmission trouble. It spent more time being repaired at the dealership than it did with me in the 7 months I owned it. Crossfire injection didn't last long, and the 700 R4 transmission was constantly improved to make a make a good and reliable piece.
I ordered a Viper in 92 when production started and when it finally arrived it was a 94 model. I have owned 3 Vipers with never a problem. I traded the 94 for a 68 Hemi 4-speed RR, I bought a insurance totaled 95 with 82 miles and rebuilt it, and in 96 I bought one of the 1166 Pace car coupes. The 96 was kept until about two years ago and was sold for a little more than purchase price.
