Just picked up a Durango for the wife. It has the "Eco feature" where the engine cuts off at stoplights like the Fords had. There is a button to disable this, but you have to push the button every time you start the vehicle. Anyone know if this can be permanently disabled via control or via the touchscreen? 'Us dinosaurs need to know."

You can buy a disabler

Starters stink, ring gear and or torque convertor really stink! They also use a special battery in the system that’s an AGM type that’s pricey I hear for the Chrysler guys. What a poor idea!

Our 2022 Grand Cherokee has this, too. Annoying. At least it has the disable button (which has to be pushed at every start-up, as mentioned in the original post). The 2021 Chevy Traverse I have for work doesn't have a disable button.

Standard ops for me the past 7.25 years. Start truck, traction control off, auto stop start off and go.

I was going to jumper my stop / start button but was warned not to by a few techs that where replacing messed up engine control boxes in vehicles that had been bypassed.

Another way to defeat it is to plug in a trailer light test plug!

Mine has stopped working in my 2020 Grand Cherokee. No loss.
They usually stop working when the battery won't charge to a high enough voltage. Does your screen not tell you why it isn't shutting off? "Vehicle too cold" " vehicle charging". They also don't activate if you are in 4 wheel or it's too cold outside.

I can tell you why it's there. The government gives the manufacturer a fuel economy credit. This raises the corporate fuel economy average. Which allows them to be able to build the stuff we want to buy that gets poorer millage. I'll give you a hint. If you disconect the hood ajar harness at the hood latch it won't function.

Though AGM's may be a bit more
pricey, they do have their advantages.
They can be mounted in any position
except upside down. They're very
popular with the 4-wheeling crowd
and marine aplications, and can handle
being recharged on a regular basis.
I use one. Plenty of cranking power
for a 440 when spec'd with the
correct CCA's. It's mounted inside the
cab, behind the seat in my '40
Plymouth truck. No battery smell
or chance of explosion due to spent
battery gasses.
I do agree that start/stop features are
rediculous.

My wife's 20 Lincoln has it too. I don't drive it very often but have finally learned to push the start button and the disable auto stop/start next. It even has a button to electrically open the glove box. How assed up is that. Can't turn it off for good, or I haven't been able to find it if possible.

The first mistake was this....."wife's new Ford" My wife has a brand new Wrangler, problem solved!

Well she buys her own car so you know what they say, Happy wife happy life.

Mine tried that buy her own car, I disapproved of the vehicle 22Grand pile of crap L series based on a little Alfa Romeo. I told her it was all hers... yup you know how it goes. I wasn’t going to touch the thing or drive it... If I drive that damn thing I’m constantly getting told how to drive it. I also said I wouldn’t pay for it or anything for it.. You know how it goes.
The thing has more dealership trips than any other vehicle I’ve ever owned.. and it still sucks. My rant I’m done.
