Interesting fender tag. According to it, the car should be black, with a red painted top, and black interior. But my guess is they got the body and roof paint codes reversed.

It would be one wild lookin ride, black, black hood striped, black accent stripes, black interior, and a red painted roof. WoW

I have owned it since 84 and saw no signs of a black body, I wish I had the broadcast sheet but they were all missing. It has always has a vylan top since i have owned it. I did repace it and it was a glossy black under it with a greyish primer peaking under that . ?

I would bet on a tag screw up. Should be R4 X9 H2X X9 in that order (more than likely)

The tag is laid out correctly (X9 top over R4 body) and the car is coded V02 for a two tone paint job. The glossy black you saw was probably the original painted top.

Too bad someone put the vinyl top on it. A two tone RR is fairly rare as only about 1.4% of the HTs sold (~650 cars sold in the US) were two tones.

What happened to the headrests?

Good luck with the sale.

It had 70 challenger buckets in the car when i got it . so i put the bench back in it ( I have a set of headrests just never bought the hardware ) . top is just glue ? so it can go back to painted top fairly easy . I assume the molding dividing the top from paint are on the two tone paint cars also . I have seen a painted roof car that had them ? Wow one of 650 had no idea it was that rare .

Yup. Two tone cars had the halo or C pillar trim to separate the colors just like a vinyl top car had

I would imagine some one got confused and put the top on it .

It had a rinky dink no texture to it vinyl top on it when i got it , so i pulled it off. It looked freshly done (recent) and put the correct knap/textured top on . Guess at age 16 i should have check out the tag more and done it correctly.

Not that big of a deal. It already had the trim, so it's not like punching holes in the C pillar for trim so you can put a top on a car that didn't have one to begin with

with it having all the trim already i'm sure someone though the old top went bad . Then they thought someone was cheap and just painted it black . You done see two tone cars everyday , so they just put a cheapo vinyl top on it . I saw the cheapo top on it and put a nice one on . I should have checked it out better and put the correct painted top back on .
