Free Fender Tag Decoding 68-70

Quick question. At the end of my plate, in the upper right, the last letters are "CTD". I assume it to mean "continued". But there is no evidence, holes etc., of a second tag. BTW, it is a 74 RR, well optioned ST Louis car. I havent even seen the ctd before, is it just simply odd or unusual? Thanks guys!

STL coded a lot on the tag so it's not necessarily odd but it is also not common. It takes a lot of codes to fill up a tag. I have seen pictures of two tags, one on top of each other instead of side by side, but I don't have a picture of an original '74 STL two tag car to know if this is how they did it at that plant.

I have read about this in one of the mopar mags and I think Galen was the one talking about it. I also think it was to say second tag but that dosnt mean it was done either.

Do a good search for Mopar fender tag code CTD and see what you come up with and if I find anything I will as well.

426Hemicharger lol yeah if everyone and you dont like the color nothing wrong in changing it. I have not looked yet to see the color of the car but like I said I have never seen a leight green and dark green color that I can remember.

I think you have an awesome car and its one I cant wait to get deoced.

I still have some tags and man 66-68 are tough codes to decode at times as it makes no sense to me.

When a trans code is 5 what is it? When I see an AXL code 1 what is it? The white books are confussing in these years.

IMHO the fender tags were screwed into the fenders then if the car was decked out then the factory tucked a second fender tag under the lip of the first one and spot welded the second one in.

Hope that helps.

Awesome sounds good. I have a few Im working on and just have not had a chance to get to them.

I think I will have a good chance as we are going to get hit with a snow storm 20-28 inches of snow or more.

CoronetKid send when you can sounds good man.

The 66-68 cars are a lot harder for me to decode and I like the challenge.

Hi still in business?? Thx B

Yeah I'm still decoding cars but as of late I have not had much time to do so. I'm back in school and my course load is kicking my butt. I'm taking a classes that should take two years to do and its jammed into a one year work load. I'm also hoping to have to novels out first part of this coming year.

Stay in touch with me and is there any way you can type out what is on the fender tag? The light is shinning off it and a couple codes I can't see.

BTW Thank you!!

1968 Coronet 500. Do those last five number have to match up with the VINs last numbers? If they don't is something henky with the car?

I see now. I should have checked. My bad.
Hey, I've done it, we've all done it. There are free decoders, just got to search around here in the various decode threads.
