I finally decided to order a new window crank as mine is really flaking off. The new one would not tighten and was loose. Turns out it’s not an extract repro and the cylinder will not go flush without a washer or something since it is made shorter than oem. Return to vendor pretty soon!

I'm a little confused. There should be splines on both the window regulator (male) and inside the door handle "cylinder" (female). There is a black plastic "washer" that goes on the outside of the interior panel, under the window crank, and over the "cylinder" of the window crank handle. IF the "cylinder" it too long so that the male/female splines don't engage each other, why not just grind off 1/8" to 1/4" of the "cylinder"?

That looks to be a larger diameter to the original ones.....can you measure the sizes for us, and give us the Vendor name please.....don't want to see anyone get burned here.

It’s all wrapped up and mailed. The part number on that bag in the pic is C087. Probably a safe check on part number. Getting to be as ridiculous as repro mustang parts. Most are junk and do not fit.

The one on the top is the repro. It is not deep enough to grab the entire mounting surface of the window mount. The inside of the OEM one has a larger taper and fits snug. Both do have the mounting teeth, but the repro one is cut off and not deep enough. The grommet does not help in this situation. Perhaps a plastic washer or something behind the door card on the mount to make up the difference in height, but the OEM is intentionally tapered so it fits perfectly. Oh well. I feel like I'm helping my old buddy redo his Mach 1 again. It was a crap shoot for every part he ordered.

So after looking at all of the eBay listings, and other sites with NOS parts, I stumbled on a Dorman 93156 handle. Looks to be the correct mounting depth based on pics on Amazon. Perhaps this will be a good replacement! Going to get one and try it out. Thanks for the help everyone!

First the piece posted by Mike Cook is a factory washer/bezel not a grommet...
Second the Dorman appears to look like the later crank with the bigger knob...
Third if there are any old car yards left in your area you can usually get very good window cranks from the rear doors of old four door cars...

I think I’m near you. Any good yards near Lancaster?

I'm at least 250 miles north of Lancaster/Palmdale... I'm in Modesto.... And until recently we had a pretty good yard but unfortunately about eight months ago without notice they crushed out everything... It was picked over but somehow I always found good stuff...

Where did you buy them from?

Thanks for the heads up. Do you know the MFG name?

Yes the Doorman part has the late 70's larger knob.

I've had real good luck finding OEM cranks with good chrome and tight knobs for VERY reasonable prices at Mopar swap meets.
