Fuel Filter

Hate to repeat myself, but some are made in China and some are made in Canada. I've found that on the couple that I've bought in the past few years, the ones made in Canada are a higher quality part.

An update on my progress, for anyone keeping tabs.....

Finally got stainless 3/8" full length fuel lines in from inlinetube.com, installed it and bolted it in the other day, was pretty much a perfect fit! Connected the dots under the hood with new hose pieces to connect line to pump, pump to new filter, new filter to carb.....still waiting on the new j-bolts that the fuel tank straps bolt to in order to hold the tank up under the car.....I ended up going with a canadian-made galvanized tank from a place called Tamraz's parts, seems to be a high quality piece, as does the 3/8" sending unit I bought from 1A Auto.....sanded and painted the old straps gloss black to save some money, they look good. I'll throw up a pic or two when I get it all done!

Lol I noticed that, but didn't wanna be rude!!

And after coming across an article where a guy actually ruined his tank and fuel lines by either not doing it right or using the wrong chemicals, I think I'll shell out the few extra bucks for the new tank and just take good care of it.]

I have done several motorcycle tanks and you really have to stay with them untill that stuff sets up. Turning and turning, I couldn't imagine doing a 20+ gal auto tank.

You mentioned you were going to order from The Paddock. I placed an order with them in March. Half my parts came fast like always, but some others were backordered. I hadn't heard from them so I have been trying to contact them for the last 2 weeks. Nobody answers the phone and faxes won't go through either. I finally gave up and ordered from Year One. Anyone been in contact with them recently? I have a feeling they closed up.

Are you saying it's gonna take awhile when I first try to start it up for the fuel to run up through the lines and into the carb? I guess I should hook the battery up to a charger during this process?

Opps! I was talking about the process of coating the inside of your tank. It kinda resembles Elmers Glue and you poor it into an opening and rotate the tank to coat the inside. You have to keep turning it to get an even coating...

Paddock is belly up.Made a order myself this past winter, last of my order showed up around march.

i stopped in there about 2 months ago and they were having a big clearance sale inside the bldg and i only saw one person the whole time i was there, don't know if that means anything but i don't want to start any rumors also.just tellin' ya what i saw.

Strange they didn't let people know they were closing. I liked the company-never had any issues with them.

Did you go with the Fram filter setup in the rear? Someone else mentioned using one, I'll also vouch for them as it's a nice easy to maintain setup.

Not yet, trying to get everything going smoothly first, but thats a definitely possibility in the future

Seem to have a problem....!!! Finally got the tank strapped in, lines bolted in, everything connected....now it won't start!!!

It will fire right up if you pour fuel down into the carburetor, i mean will run smooth as can be for as long as you can do that, but as soon as you run out it just dies. Here's what we've checked:

1) disconnected hose from main fuel line that goes into fuel pump, it is full of fuel

2) disconnected fuel line going into carb at the carb to empty it out twice, it was full of fuel both times

So the pump seems to be okay?! or does some go back into that line going into the carb when you pour fuel directly into the top of the carb? Fuel filter is new, the ONLY thing I havent replaced in the fuel system is the fuel pump and it appears to be fairly new, but should I replace this anyway? Thanks for the help

Is the float bowl full? What kind of carb? What brand of pump? A fuel pressure gauge rental form autozone would be a good idea no matter what for a new fuel system set-up.
