They are not big enough, and to close to hood to move any air and make a performance improvement. They could let heat out when sitting, which is good.

They are close to the snorkel sizes on dual snorkel air cleaners.

Maybe a reverse stamp louver right in front of the opening.

I modified the scoops....... making them longer makes the opening bigger, like double or more

I'm in awe of that entire thread...the metal working skills you have. I've never tried but if I do, this is my primer.
I am wondering what you did underhood to direct intake air and redirect rainwater. Didn't see any pics of that.

we have a mock up air box made out of wood; the real box isn't made yet......the engine has to be in the car.......it will be in that thread in the coming months

I'm impressed by the sheetmetal-work too, but I don't think the problem is this. I think the stock scoops' location is positioned far too outward to have an airflow improvement, it's not the size or closeness to the hood. Even a shorter hood-scoop, located more centrally where the air intake would pass over the air cleaner, would be a noticeable improvement. I think, as eldubb440 said, fabricating some under-hood ducting or airbox of some sort to route the airflow to where it needs to be would be essential.
