Gas Monkey is full of crap!!

Not to offend anyone here :iamwithstupid: , BUT it's Scripted Reality TV stuff, don't take any of it as 100% fact, not sure how much I'd believe Hot Rod Mag. writers either, seen enough of the auto mag.s write crap, that's completely wrong too or stretch the truth not be 100% factual too... Kind of the pot calling the kettle black, I'm just saying, seems both have an agenda... Both are trying to sell something, one cars & a TV show, the other an automotive rag., selling advertisements, that mostly dedicated to = every which way to build a Camaros & Mustangs or pushing the Power Tour coverage, selling advert. wares... It's merely Just Meant for Entertainment, nothing more or less, it's not a 100% factual documentary show, it's not gospel... I will personally only take both sources, as a grain of salt, in a big a$$ salt shaker... I watch all the car shows, they're far better than most other TV, other than racing & sports, mainly golf & football, some news... Don't put much effort into worrying about the reality TV show facts, it's really not worth it, it's just a TV show... my $0.02 cents take it or leave it, just another opinion, opinions will vary vastly too, I'm sure...

I watch pretty much all the same one's you guys do... Fast & Loud, Counting Cars, Car Chasers, Rods N Wheels, etc.... We have 2 that air here I'm not sure if you guys get.... Restoration Garage and Legendary Motorcar Company

Restoration Garage features a shop in Bradford Ontario Canada that does more of the high end restorations and although there is a little drama around the shop it is usually about the cars which I appreciate

LMC is another local high end restoration facility (DreamCar Garage use to be filmed here) and the show usually focusses on finding a relatively collectible/well documented car and getting it to pristine shape whether for sale or concours. If you guys can find them online you might enjoy them

We do get LMC Legendary Garage show, Don't get me wrong, I do like the show too, but Peter Klute {?} & his kid, both kind of comes off like a little bit uppity, hob nobbing, bucks up type guys sometimes {I know they started out with allegedly nothing, out of a little garage, it's just my perception}, Pebble Beach crowd, much like what I feel about Wayne Carrinie {?} from Chasing Classic cars... Both dealing with Millions of $$$ cars & flipping them for profit, truly beautiful cars, far out of reach of most people {Peter just bought a $3.2 million GT40 Street version & a Boss 429 for restoration flip}... Not that, that's a bad thing, just how they come off to me... Both seem to do good work... I haven't seen the Restoration Garage show yet, I don't know anything about that show or characters...

Maybe I am confused. Who is the guy with the friend named Dennis with suitcase of cash?

Dennis is a longtime friend of Rawlings who drove with him in the Cannonball Run. He owns a Jeep dealership and who knows what else in Dallas.

It's going to be interesting to see if Rawlings addresses this issue before Monday's show.

I'll bet even more people watch now... Nothing like some scandal or bad press to get attention...

Budnicks I agree completely with your impression of PK and his his son Gary... Both do come off on that show as being arrogant and uppity and I take them the same way. The show definitely isn't relateable to me either as their cars are all well out of my price range I just like the fact that the show is less scripted and more about a car or it's history/pedigree and less about stupid shop antics to try to be a reality TV star. Like yourself I watch them all and take it with a grain of salt but the one's I prefer are the one's for car guys by car guys!

:iamwithstupid: exactly my thoughts

you guys know...... MAYBE it be a good series type thing for one of us with a garage to do nothing but resto's and make a show of it.. ON OUR time not those dumb asses that push the every second crap.........

That's why everything rushed.....OR do one show on one car, another car on the following show, and so on, from one garage, then while that "week" is being shown, someone elses garage is followed for the following week, one car a day, so Every Monday, Robs garage, with his Dodge Truck, Tuesday Robs Garage and Robs 4 Lettered F-word, Wednesday, Robs Hemi build, Thursday, Robs body of the Dodge Truck, Friday, Robs F-word Motor build......NOTHING complete for EACH you know? THEN the following Monday Kori's Charger build, Tuesday Kori's Super Bee Motor build Wednesday Kori's Dart pained, and so on and so forth. We could make a serious car guy show outta this! LOL

Only catch, is having the crew travel from one persons garage to another, it be expensive, never mind......

I used to watch,LMC (DreamCar Garage) back in '04 or 05...they used to cruise the autobahn in an X fire had it up to 145 MPH...it looked like this one...:icon_surprised:

could not have said that any better, nice work budnicks.

PHS documentation

I wonder if the Pontiac Historical Society has chimed in on what's what ??, with the alleged {production/assembly line ??} or 2 "show/display cars" 1st & 2nd serial #'s -------000001 & ------000002, Convertible & HT Firebirds, from Fast & Loud... I haven't been around that crowd for quite a while, they're "real sticklers" for the facts, much like the, GG, GYC, 100% OEM MoPar, for accuracy, authenticity & documentation etc.... I'm sure they would be able to shed light on the facts too...

I guess I must be watching a different show. I don't recall seeing Richard blaming others for stuff.
IMO Fast & Loud is one of the better shows out there, along with Counting Cars. To me at least, they seem "honest" in the sense that there isn't a lot of dramatic bullcrap like there is on other shows.

uh,
I'm pretty sure those two Firebirds are the "Real-Deal"

I like the show.

Okay...you dont like it..I can dig it.

Wish I could get some publicity (for my business ) FOR FREE like they get!:upside down:

It's all Bull ship!...DVR and splice up what you want to see...I do....
IT IS better than::iamwithstupid:
*Call the Midwife
*The Amazing Race: All-Stars
*Once Upon a Time
...and on and on....

"Super-bee_ski" says SONNY has a Bad *** car!

So I read the article.. and I watched the show.. I don't recall them ever stating they were super rare other then the VIN codes in the show, which is exactly what Hot Rod Magazine stated... Not sure what the hype is, I never perceived them as ultra rare proto types or anything other then #1 and #2 like as stated in the show..

I do think sometimes they can go a little hay wire with the pricing. If everyone that sold him a car watched the show and found out he doubled his money without touching it.. no one would sell him any cars..

I like to watch it just because it is the most realistic show of them all.. BUT I do remember it is a tv show

The holy grail Firebirds part 1 and 2 start at 8 pm tonight here, I am going to watch to see what this is all about.

Ski is right about Sonny's car, it's bad *** for sure.

I watched them crank on that little Pontiac engine with the dist 180* out... popping through the little Rochester 2 jet, blowing flames....

And the new guy (supposedly expert) is saying it did that because one of the shop ogres was messin with the carb.....

Total BS.

I'm not seeing the fact scandal that everybody is harping about with the number 1 & 2 firebirds. Serial numbers are 0001 and 0002, I'm not sure what's fake about that?

I watched the show last night, the only thing I have to complain about is that I don't think I like the new guy. And I didn't like seeing the one goofy guy get fired. He was funny, the camera loved him and his clownish antics.

I had a buddy who was a Camaro expert, 1st gens only. He built his shop and his reputation on the quality work that was done there. Everything was period correct and correctly date coded. Beautiful car and happy customers all over North America. He would buy them and research the history and then decide if the car was worth restoring or was worth making into a nice driver.

He was approached to do a show in his shop and from what I know they filmed I the shop for a few weeks until it came to be too much. They would yell cut when he turned and asked one f the other guys to pass him a pair of Visegrips. Vise grips is a brand name and since they are not a sponsor we cannot mention their name. Needless to say it was too much and he had them pack up and take the car and finish somewhere else. He did get a four post portable lift out of it if I remember. This was a good 15 years ago as well.

The shows now are entertainment with maybe the chance of hearing a god fact about the cars.

Why are we refferencing GM cars? I thought this was a Mopar site...

satman72,
It was meant for the "others"....I just used your post as the "Barometer"

Gee, those 2 "Birds" came out looking brand new!
Yeah, 60 days, concours restorations...I'm throughly impressed.....
