Hi all

I noticed tonight when flicking channels that they had a replica dodge polara police car , 73 model I think ( unsure) have seen this before but what bothered me was when Richard was putting a value on it he said it was a 4 door polara and its worthless ( along those lines)

Is that really the case over in the US ( I'm in Aus) or are they on the up ?

I have a 63 440.

Cheers

This is my old beast

In general, 4-door cars have very little value here in the USA

Richard is a thief and a jerk. Thinks he is better then everyone else. Its all about the MONEY

Never had any use for that show.. or any of the other ones for that matter..

Depending on the model and options they can be up to half the value of a coupe. However after the cream of the model crop is purchased by collectors, smashed up or priced out of sight the four door cars then become more interest. For example police cars: The holy grail is the '69 Dodge Polara. I have seen this model go for 35k restored. My car is second in line: '70 Plymouth Fury III ex-WSP car. And yes not a "K" code vin but a "M" code car. Law Enforcement could order cars and pick and choose the individual HD options.

For the most part yes, 4 doors aren't desirable by most over here in the states. Worthless might be an extreme way of saying it but in all honesty in most cases they are used for parts cars sadly.

Four doors hold little interest. My street legal 1965 Plymouth Valiant 4-door has an interesting heritage/history:

Purchased in circa 1973 for $125.00
As my 273 CID bracket racer "Valiant Effort" it ran a best ET 12.72 @ 108 MPH.
Sold to Renteria Brothers circa 1980 for around $3000.00
See foto #1 of the car circa 1978 (painted 1974 Cadillac terra cotta firemist).

Renteria Brothers spent $100,000 per year racing the same vehicle "Valiant Effort" from 1980-2000 which is now owned by Kenny Moorhead. That adds up to 2 million dollars (20 X 100,000). Car now does quarter mile in 8 seconds. See foto #2 (now painted black).

The current Renteria Brothers vehicle is a "replica" '65 four-door Valiant with a plastic body. This car is now running five seconds in the quarter mile. I don't know if it even has any real/original Valiant parts. See foto #3 of the new plastic bodied car (black).

And there you go, proof that a 4 door can look wicked! That's a sweet looking ride!

Times are slowly changing as original two doors get snapped up. Evidenced by the trend in wagons right now.
Years ago I bought a beautiful 1970 four door Coronet 500 as a parts car for my ‘Bee. Drove it 750 miles home at occasional speeds around 100mph.
It was b5 blue, AC, everything worked. We cut it up for fenders and taillight panel.
I sure wish I would have cut up a different one and kept this as a driver.

over 10 years ago Sonny looked for a B Body post........so,
I went after the best "original" car I could find!.....

probably sounds foolish, but i think i liked the car the best when you had it mr Dibbons.
12 seconds w a 273 sure sounds respectable and...and it looks streetable.
i like the 1st pic/in red,and enjoyed the background story as well thanks.

as a wagon body style, a 4 door seems to have more value
there's not a huge market for the old 4 doors
some great parts & options in many
it's sort of sad, but that's reality

more for people that like/love them, then

With the rear wheel wells flared out to accommodate the full size 1970 Dodge Challenger 8 3/4 differential, one interesting comment I received was that my old '65 Valiant reminded him of a BMW. Interesting observation.

Edit:
The back seat never saw any "action." But it did accommodate a pair of "mounted" 10" M & H slicks. The rear doors made easy access to them.

I find when I go to car shows here in Australia a lot of people don't know what it is and pretty much just walk past the Dodge

It's only really the Mopar people that stop and look

I like being different and original so that's all good haha

Here's a pic of me being overshadowed by my brother's new 72 charger I went for a drive to welcome him home on his way past last weekend when he was bringing it home for the first time
