Gator grabs 2 year old @ Disney

I'll bet someone had been feeding the gator and it reacted like this was another hand out.

Parents need to take swimming lessons. In Lake Buena Vista.

I didn't realise that Eddie Murphy was in Law Enforcement these days...

Just heard that they found the kid's body. I don't think that you could ever get over something like this. Condolences to his family. Really sad.

Man, anyone who has ever had kids knows how fast a 2 year old can run. I have a pic somewhere with a rope around my waist tied to a picnic table! I was a runner too. Anyone that was holding the hand of your very young child while you were out somewhere and all of a sudden your hand was in serious pain because that little snot took a bite out of it so they could escape!? Me too. According to the news, this little 2 year old was only a foot into the water and even with life guards and parents very near, it still happened. These people were not from that area and probably had no idea of any dangers lurking near by....

Well, they are from Nebraska...

Feel bad for the parents what a loss.
Thing is they were not swimming just wading.
Stupid gator did not know the difference between swimming and wading. Now both kid and gator are done. One because his parents could read and not give a dam to obey the sign and the other because he was hungry and could not read.
I have also been to Yellowstone signs all over the place telling you not to feed the bears, not to leave food out, not to pet the bears. Yet stupid people will grab their camera at first sighting and run out to take a picture of the bears, just stupid. Can not enagine a gator being any different.

My mother has videos of my nephew water skiing in that lake from a few years ago. I never knew there were alligators in the man made lake although it really never crossed my mind as I would not swim in it. All Disney had to do was put up another sign that said 'No swimming -Alligators' to protect their customers and to cover their ***. Now, they will probably put up a six foot wall wall neon signs and someone someway will still manage to get hurt or killed. Maybe a sign that lists every and all possible threats in 50 different languages.

Yha that's the answer. Let's punish the poor family FROM NEBRASKA who just lost their 2 year old to an Alligator.
This is a terrible tragedy... Let's just pray for the family and let them mourn. I can't imagine what they are going through right now.

Pray for them, yes. Parents are still responsible for the safety of the kid - be they stupid, naive, millennials, or criminally inattentive. And there should be a consequence. They have other kids.

We live in a place that we share with other creatures.

Snakes, cougars, bears, wolves, mosquitoes, eagles, etc. and maybe even a terriadactial or two. (at least we used to)

Sometimes a child is taken down by a human.--eek-- let's start culling that segment of risks.
It is a tough and sad story---but that is all it is---

Killing every alligator in site (and they have been doing that) is a knee jerk reaction not unlike collecting guns.

When lightning strikes do we send up the air force to blow up the clouds? Or do we learn more about the clouds and the alligators?

Ok, so the family was on vacation together and something terrible happened... so now the family should be broken up and thrown in jail, and the remaining child will left without parents and now is going to be put into the system.
Yha that makes a lot of sense. You sound like a lawyer. You're thinking drives me crazy. The only reason why you want them punished is because it will make YOU feel better. You don't care how it effects anyone else.
Sometimes bad things happen to good people, weather it's because someone made a mistake or someone is just plain evil and shoots 49 people in a bar.... we have to quite trying to fix things that can NOT be fixed.
A 100,000 people probably waded in that lake at night and nothing happened, but in this case it went very bad.
Again, let's pray for the family and let them mourn. Do you think putting that dad and mother in jail is going to make them feel any worse than they feel already. DO you think that dad isn't reliving that hellish moment over and over again.
Just leave them alone and quit judging them.

Their is a consequence. It's having to live with a --what if --for the rest of their lives.
From what I've read so far this just seems to be a very sad story.---A sort of lightning strike in a zone where lightning can strike.

No stable person wades in water in Florida. Parents who are in traffic accidents suffer when a child is killed as a result of being ejected due to no seat belt or car seat. That's too bad. Their other kids should be taken away from them. Justice for the unprotected. Accidents do happen, most times due to human error or bad judgement. In this case due to neglect.
