Gator grabs 2 year old @ Disney

Their is a consequence. It's having to live with a --what if --for the rest of their lives.
From what I've read so far this just seems to be a very sad story.---A sort of lightning strike in a zone where lightning can strike.
Agreed, but who suffered the ultimate consequence? The 2 year old. The world is a playground to some parents. No boundaries. Lawyer? They will sue for signs, fences, and all the other bullshit that protects the ignorent.

Yes the child paid the ultimate price... HOWEVER what good is going to come from sending the parents off to prison? So the dad is standing beside his son and the gator came out of no where and took him. The Dad actually tried to fight the gator off but couldn't. How is this neglect?
If the parents were partying it up in the bar and the kid was down in the lagoon. Yes you may have a case, but this wasn't the case.

Besides I'm trying to make a point. So you say the parents should be jailed for wading in the lagoon with there kid.
So what if the dad and son were fishing and the boat tipped over. How about if the kid was swinging on the monkey bars and slipped and hit his head? Should the parents be thrown in jail? These would all be tragedies.
How about the parents who almost lost their kids because she let them walk to the park a 1/4 mile down the road. Where does this end? So a Judge get's to determine who is fit to be a parent....
Oh wait a minute. If they were minority and a single parent with 6 kids on welfare and food stamps yet the kids are still starving because the mother is selling the EBT card for drugs... we're not allowed to judge them.

.....that protects the ignorent.

It's funny how the really intelligent people always seem to have a definitive opinion, about a situation they know nothing about, while attempting to show just how "ignorant" someone else is.

Yes thank you!!! I also noticed that most of the "intelligent" people seem to come from California, New York (CITY) and Washington DC.

And Pennsylvania too. Does not take a high IQ to keep a 2 year old out of fresh water anywhere in Florida that is not a swimming pool.

What a lucky coincidence! I was born in California, reside in New York and have a permanent Summer Home in Washington D.C.

I wonder if I qualify If I lived in CA., vacationed in NY and worked in D.C.

But I did not eat paint chips like our dumbass potus did as a kid.

Ok, so the family was on vacation together and something terrible happened... so now the family should be broken up and thrown in jail, and the remaining child will left without parents and now is going to be put into the system.

Yep... that's the society we live in now. The old adage of intent defining the crime is out, and now we must criminalize any accident or unintended outcome so we can feel better about ourselves. This is the same deal with the parents of kids who get a hold of their gun and shoot someone. The parents never intended for their kid to find the gun, the kid never intended to cause harm, but that doesn't matter because WE ARE OUTRAGED AND SOMEONE MUST PAY!!! So, we lock up the parents, orphan the kids, and destroy a family over an accident.

This entire episode is just tragic. I am not sure people from Nebraska are all that familiar with Alligators in Florida. I only know how I would feel if this happened to me and my heart goes out to the family. I am sure the little guy is in God's hands now.

And this on top of the massacre at the night club. My prayers are with those who lost their lives or were injured and their families and friends.

In all seriousness, I don't know how the parents will be able to cope. From what I understand, this is a beach where anyone and everyone can walk and the signs only state "no swimming" instead of warning of alligators. If that is the case, Disney hasn't got a leg to stand on.

A lot of folks in Nebraska hear gators in Florida and think...

I have to assume that the parents did not know there are alligators in the lake because it is Disney. My nephew has a friend who works there and people called him more than once to complain about the weather as if he has a magic fairy wand that he can wave while chanting some incantation to get rid of the nasties. I have three young daughters and we have played on those beaches, but never once thought about wading in it. I go every year and wake up to do my daily run at 5:00 am and run all along the Bay Lake along the trail. Next year, I will be very cautions during dusk and dawn along the banks.
