Just wondering out loud what the rest of the group think about gauges on a 64 savoy semi hemi clone. Really hate to rely on the idiot lights. Wondering if it would be period correct to hang a 3 gauge panal under the dash like I did when I was a kid or would that look like an after thought? What do the rest of you guys do when it comes to engine monitoring on a period correct car? Motor is a 572 Hemi. Thanks in advance. Spook.

I have a 64 Polara but for me I bought a radio delete plate, a heater delete plate and a push button delete plate. This way I dont ruin my original faces. Gauges going in radio delete plate. Switchs in heater delete and tranny gauge in bush button delete. No pics yet cause its under construction. But for me it seems most logical. All with in eye level. If my oil pump goes I want to know.

I too will have the same delete plates, but hate to punch holes in them as they cost an arm and a leg!. Any other suggestions, photos or ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks for the reply. Spook.

Well for me, I prefer a Three gauge panel consisting of Temp, O/P and Volts. I've done this on all my cars from the Sixties on.
When you have a lot of $$$$ into an engine, it doesn't make much sense to take any chances
with anything other than a quality set of instruments. (Just my Two Cents).
As for being "period correct" Does it really make a difference?

Here's a pic of the inside of my 440, so you can see the gauges.

So many guages...so little time to look at them all LOL

Thanks. I think I will go with the 3 gauge panal below the dash....kinda like I did when I was a kid in the 60's. Seems somehow appropriate to go back to that time with this car. Thanks again for the photo's and replies. Spook.
