Looking to not spend 3200 for a new unit!
727 or A833...dosent matter...I have both!

Closer to PHX the better.

I have kept this guy bookmarked for quite awhile. He is in Indiana though.

The 727 Specialist

*Super Duty 727 with Gear Vendors Od unit installed 3650.00
*Gear Vendors Od complete 727 kit 2750.00

Not sure if that's much savings for you. Good luck!
I wonder how legit, or how old is that website? Retail price of a Gear Vendors is $3195 and his website claims he sells them for $2795.

Classic Industries has them in their catalog for $2895, obviously a drop shipped price. Unfortunately, their website just recently showed them as no longer available.

The website is like early 2000's quality home made. To me it says it's been around a while.

I have not personally purchased anything from him. Maybe his markup is less than Classic since it's $145 difference by your numbers.

I do not know his FBBO username, but apparently he's been hanging around here and FABO FCBO as well for many years.

Seems some people know him well. I'd say legit since you brought up the question.

Hopefully a live website means he is still in business, but these days in this hobby, who knows.

I've bought several used GV overdrives. They tend to be worn out or broken. That's the only reason people get rid of them. If you back up and forget to disengage the OD, you can damage them. The bottom of the OD is an oil sump. If possible, take it off and inspect for metal debris. The good news is, you can send a bad OD back to GV and receive credit for a core charge on a good unit. Not sure if you actually save any money over just buying a new one though. If buying used, try to get the speedometer attachment that corrects the speedometer reading when the OD is engaged. That's all you really need. I use a simple 2 speed axle switch to manually turn mine on and off. Also, you will probably have to buy the adapter for your specific transmission separately, unless the OD came off of the same transmission that you have, and it is included with the purchase. You will have to get the adapter from GV, and they aren't cheap.

The one for $1500 is an OLD scam. I actually bought the unit in those pictures. I've seen those same pictures on any and every Mopar FB group. I paid $2300 for that unit, and it came with a drive shaft- it was actually in south east Alabama- like Dothan area.

Some guy claimed to be ME with a one character difference between his name and my name- and posted it for sale before Hurricane Helene and posted I was selling it out of Rockwood TN. I got ticked and used a fake name to schedule a meetup, the guy got wind of something and 2 hours before we were "to meet" he sent me a mssg saying "I don't have any guarantee you will showup, you're 14 hours away in NC" and he posted a map from NY to Rockwood TN.

They haven't used a variation of my name since, but they almost always use a picture of a generic looking guy holding a walleye bass.

I just checked- Alan Greenwood is the one who used my name. He is saying he's out of Strawberry Plains TN. Rockwood is on the other side of steamplant 3. At any rate... I guarantee that is a scam. I own that unit. If anyone wants to verify, there is a guy between Dothan and Mobile who has a nice 68-70 B-body and he could not get the drive shaft and pinion angle adjusted properly and I got a new unit, everything was still sealed.

You can trade in GM and Ford tailshaft adapters but Gear Vendors only gives you $200 per tailshaft and a single tailshaft is $500-$750.

Not sure how the reverse thing would be a problem. They are supposed to automatically turn off when you shift into reverse.

The OD only turns off in reverse if you have and use the automatic controller. As I stated, I have a simple manual switch to control my OD. The OD has an internal oil pump driven by RPM; theoretically the OD cannot engage at low speed due to low oil pressure, but it can, whether going forward or backward.

I got a quote from that website guy "Keith".
His price is exactly the same as direct from GV. So...no deals currently around.. looks like I'm buying a new one.... and an additional 700 for A833 adapter if I swap to a 4 speed.

This hobby was more fun when lazy jerks (aka scammers) weren't posting more than actual sellers.

Now it seems 75% scammer, 20% parts sellers, 5% ghosts and flakes.

A&A sell them if you want new. That's where I would go if I needed another one.

I bought one this summer new from GV directly, took a month to get it. It is a game changer in my Charger. Took it on a 5 hr cruise the mountains of Colorado and performed flawlessly.

I love Gear Vendors.

I have two 727 units and I love them to death. On one car that has a 2.91 rear differential ratio, splitting gears, it pays for itself.

If I can find what I need I am going to put one in the 70 Charger I own. I got the 440 running and it is a beast of a car. Brake upgrade next, I enjoy living.

I know people complain about the final GV OD ratio but with the correct differential ratio pairing and setting it to split gears, happiness !
