just purchased it,and i am going thru things and replacing fuses someone had two wrong fuses in fuse box,i removed lower pad and controls and found wires not connected and some screws was not put back to dash.i have removed gauges to be replaced and panel face to be restored. i found this one wire unconnected could not find where it went it is orange and white,red and a dark color i matched all lower panel switches where they go and this one is left can anyone id where this might connect to in the dash. thanks IMG_0233.jpg

Hard to tell from your picture, but could it be for the factory radio that isn't being used now?
 
Easy, that is your radio connector, for power to the radio / lamp with a tap (white) going to the engine bay for a 4 speed backup switch, the Orange is lamp power for the radios lamp, the red is main 12+ power. what else ya got? and depending on your accessories you may have some yellow or others not connected because the option is there but not selected when bought new like key on buzzer etc. get car lets see some more pics congrats on the purchase!

Will the back up switch still work if radio is not plugged in?
 
Yes because the red has power all the time and the white is tapped on it in the connector so its like a splice.
