Going to check a 68 Charger

because most people make a mess ........ I have never found anything good under a rattle can primer job...... just beware
You'll find a really nice all original body under my rattle can primer job! It's nuts and hate that I'm not working on it and too bad it's not a 68 Charger..

there are rare exceptions; but remember, everyone is a bodyman
I've done very little body work to it...filled all the trim holes for one thing (welded them up with no warpage) and it's the only 2nd car I did. It needs some work in the lower 1/4 panel area below the quarter window. Solid metal but someone backed into it I assume and the repair wasn't very good.

like I said....... :poke:

I got a few stories looking at cars that were supposed to be absolutely great....one involved bondo with newspaper and wire mesh for bondo backing lol. I'm sure you have experience plenty of crap like that.

What are your plans for it, as based on the pictures I see missing trim as well as the engine bay has after market parts.

What is the seller asking. I'm no expert and others will chime in but you're probably looking at $40k at body, paint, and interior on top of the asking price.

I’m passing on it fellows, the seller decided to keep it…
Thanks for all the help/input

Just because it has rust, that doesn’t mean you can’t drive it and fix it later. Not every car is a complete pos because of rust. And not every car has to be absolutely perfect. There’s middle ground. Use the body work as negotiations

Yeah, seeing how it's off the market at this moment, I'm curious of the asking as well.

I couldn’t agree more….i needed some input because i know nothing about bodywork….and at my age with a pathetic budget…its hard to pull the trigger especially if there are no funds for BIG surprises….frustrating

When it comes to Chargers, a 30 grand car can turn into a hundred grand car real easy.
I’m hoping not, since I’m not interested in a “Barret Jackson “ trailer queen… just a nice driver for local cruises and shows

Passing on it was a good thing. Be patient and your car will come but obviously keep looking.

Seeing your in CT like me, l'm in the Orange area, if you haven't, look at Mopars in motion website.

As l bought my 68 9 years ago l paid $26k and probably put in $20k in repairs and putting OEM parts back on where l could and selling the aftermarket parts that were on it when I bought it. You can see my cars condition when l bought it.

Based on the price they were asking doesn't seem too bad based on the condition but you'd be paying a lot more for body and paint and the car could be in the shop for 6 months or more to get it done.

I did the wire mesh with bondo back in the day to get a buddy's daily driver through PA state inspection after he flunked. I took more time, and used a fiberglass base when I did my Valiant.:)

These days I think the $30kish may have been a fair price IF there were no surprises. Me, I'd sooner buy one for $15k-$20k and expect the surprises but I have the skillsets to deal with the hornets nest and unfortunately theses days there just aren't that many to choose from.
